Sweet Izzy

Hello, friends.  I had another post intended for today, but wanted to share my heavy heart instead. If you've been reading my blog for a while then you know I'm an animal lover, especially when it comes to dogs. I am incredibly sad to say that we unexpectedly lost our dog Izzy last night.  She has a history of seizures, which she would normally pull out of after 5-10 minutes. Last night they were non-stop for hours and her temperature was a steady 105. I can still picture her sweet face in utter agony. My heart is truly broken.

I sit here in tears, writing this post. I am sure for some it's hard for some to understand the amount of utter sadness, but in our family the dogs are like kids.  Please say a prayer for us, and the other dogs as they are beginning to realize that something is different. I find comfort in the fact that this morning Izzy is joyfully running like in the photo above in the fields of heaven. xo, k

  2. I am so so sorry for your loss. My pup is more a part of our family than I ever could've imagined. He is a person to me. I know it feels awful now, but she is in a better place. Not in pain. Thinking of you. xo

  4. oh Kelly. that is so sad. It is more horrible to see them in pain like that. I haven't had a dog for years but grew up with Murphy , a yorkshire terrior. (I was his favorite human) and when he passed I was a sophomore in college and balled for days. It doesn't make it any less sad because they are "just a dog." I completely understand. Hugs Kelly!

  8. So sorry to hear about your sudden loss. Your memories of Izzy will definitely keep you going. I haven't had my sweet little puppy for years, and although I still miss her, the great memories I've had with her keep me going. I pray the same will be for you and your family.

On a side note, please don't be afraid to grieve as much as you need to! Some people may think you're silly for grieving over 'just a dog', but who cares what they think anyway... They have no idea how special it is to have had a dog as a member of the family!

  26. My eyes watered. I lost my cat Shadow in 09, one month before my bday. That summer was suppose to be the best cuz I graduated college and paid off my car etc but it ended up being horrible (car got totaled, etc). I don't have kids so losing the pet I had for 13 yrs was hard, I was with him and held his paw as he died of kidney failure. Some ppl who don't own pets don't understand how much of family they become to us. I had to actually snap on someone for telling me "it's just an animal". So don't let anyone who may make rude comments to you, make you feel any sort of way. It's okay to feel what you feel and I'll surely say a prayer for you and your fam. Just try to take comfort in knowing Izzy will no longer go through that pain. :-( *virtual hug*

  27. I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are SO special and truly members of our families. My heart aches for you. One of my favorite quotes is below. I think this is true :)

I lost my dog a few years ago in a very sudden bout of stomach cancer. The pain is near unbearable, but over time, it will heal. You will always have the memories of your wonderful dog and the years of joy she brought to your life. Hang in there.

  48. Oh Kelly I am so sorry. My dog passed away in October, also with seizures. It was one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. He was my baby for 13 years, I miss him every day. I completely feel what you are going through, it is still so recent in my mind. I can still see his suffering in my mind and it hurts. I will be praying for you, I believe that God created our animals with individual value and He cares about them as much as we do. Izzy and my Muffler are getting all the cookies they want in Heaven right now :)
    Hugs, Nancy xo

  60. We just went through the almost exact same thing with my girl/best friend Luna and it is truly one of the hardest things to watch and still makes my heart hurt. For me, despite being one of the most difficult things to do, I felt a sense of peace/ relief after knowing that she was no longer in pain. I hope you can experience a similar calm. Lots of hugs and puppy kisses your way!
