color inspiration.

I was off the Kate Spade bandwagon for quite some time...but I think I am back on thanks to all the cheerful colors she's using. Right now, I crave bright, bold colors and a visit to the KS website and store always delivers. Not to mention, everything is beyond adorable.

Do you ever look to fashion for color and decor inspiration?

dear tucker,

Just because 4 pound Olive can fit through this gate does not mean (all 20 pounds of) you  can...although I think you may have figured that out for sure today.

Doesn't he look absolutely pitiful?

I had to admit...it made me laugh out loud when I saw him. I have no idea how he managed to get himself so tangled up. Don't feel too sorry for him though because he is completely fine. In fact, here he is minutes later:

Silly pup!

Maybe not his smartest move but he sure is cute!

spring (virtual) decorating.

This time of year always makes me want to renew my design & decor and this year is no different. Right now I completely, 100% HATE my living room. It just has no flow and feels heavy. Although I am not a big fan of Ikea (I think it's because it's always so crazy when you go in there), I have come across several items that I love, all of which I feel would look amazing in my living room. I have several items from them already...but I have to admit, I am tired of them too. Maybe some spring decorating could change my tune.
Do any of you feel this way about any of your rooms?

totally awesome: carnival wedding.

I see beautiful weddings on blogs all of the time, and love seeing all the little details of how a couple makes the event "their own." I first spotted this carnival wedding on this blog, and the only words I could think of to describe it were "totally awesome." I think it is the sweetest, most clever wedding theme and execution I have seen in a long time...and let's face it, the ferris wheel sealed the deal for me.

See what I mean? Awesome.

I love all the well thought out details (by Amorology Weddings)...the colors, the games, the tickets...everything. And Jamie Hammond Photography captured the event perfectly. You can check out more photos from this wedding here.

3.26.2010

happy weekend.

 Enjoy it, lovelies!

3.25.2010

tired but inspired.

So maybe you've noticed that I have been a bit quiet on the blog this week...or maybe you didn't...ha! First things first, I am loving that you've all embraced the blog party concept. So. Much. Fun. It's been one of those crazy bananas weeks--super busy--so I have not had any time to actually enjoy the party or visit the links but it is on the top of my list this weekend.

Since I have been so busy, it's been hard to take the time to blog, so I am sharing some amazing photos that completely knocked my socks off this week. THIS photostream inspired me more than a single photographer has in a while, and it's too beautiful not to share with you. Bonus? She has a blog, which I am now subscribed to. How could you not look at these photos and smile? I love.

Is anything special inspiring you this week?

3.22.2010

link party!

So, I got to thinking...

Many times, I'll get a comment and click to go visit the blog of the person that commented and the link to their blog is not listed on their profile. This make me kind of sad since I'd love to return the comment love (after all, we LOVE comments, don't we?) It's pretty much one of my favorite things about blogging.

Any way...I figured it would be fun to have a link party...a place for us all to link up so I can visit you and you can visit each other. My friend Katie and I have talked about starting some kind of blogger girls night out thing for local bloggers, so please link up! I also would love to add some new links to my sidebar so I hope you'll participate. Happy link party, lovelies!

the million dollar question.

Ever since I posted about my yellow candlesticks I've been asked several times if I used spray paint/brushed it on and what paint/color I used. Ask...and I shall share. Here it is:
This is it. Pretty much everything I paint is done with spray paint. I loathe painting with a brush so spray paint and I are pretty much best friends. Give it a try yourself if you haven't already. It's glorious. Give it a try yourself and use a Meijer promotional code and get instant savings. So, there you go...question answered. Are you on team spray paint or team brush?

the view from here.

My "to do" list is long. So you would think that being on spring break last week would allow me to knock some of those items out, right? Um...no. Lots of emails to return for work and Fab K Creative, laundry, cleaning, organizing...and not to mention I want to refinish the amazing 'K' my little sissy bought for me. (Speaking of...any ideas about what I should do to my new fabulous k?)

One other item on my list...another giveaway day!  If you have a shop and would like to participate in the giveaway, please email me at fabulousk {at} ymail {dot} com with GIVEAWAY in the subject line.

That's all for now...time to be a busy bee. Have a lovely Monday, friends!

P.S. It's gonna be 65 today. Needless to say, our brief spring snow is gone. Hello, open windows!

3.21.2010

Happy Spring?

Yesterday may have been the first day of spring, but someone obviously forgot to tell mother nature.  We received over 7 inches of snow last night...something that does not normally happen during springtime in Dallas.  The crazy thing?  It was 70 on Friday, and is suppose to be 65 tomorrow.  Gotta love Texas weather!

Enjoy your Sunday, friends!

3.19.2010

a fab k favorite.

Hello again! Yes, this is my 2nd post of the day...but I have a fun share. One of my biggest pet peeves is candles that move in their candlesticks...I hate when they are super crooked! Enter PB's candle buttons...sticky wax circles that you place in the bottom of your candlesticks to keep them straight. The best part? You get 15 for only $1. Love that almost as much as I love having straight candles. They're a little find too good not to share!

(ahhh...much better!)

refreshed & reworked.

Hello & happy Friday friends! I hope you all have had a lovely week full of beautiful weather. It seems we're in for another cold snap here is Dallas this weekend, complete with lots of rain and even talk of snow flurries. Kind of crazy to think about when you consider that the high today is 70...

Any way, I have a fun idea for you fashionistas out there. I found the necklace below for only $25. It's a short necklace, which is really cute, but I knew I would get more wear out of it if it was longer. So...I bought 2 yards velvet ribbon in grey and got to work.

I removed the old clasp and fed the ribbon through the rings that the previous closure was connected to, tying a know above the rings to keep the ribbon in place. Then I tied the 2 sides together into a bow and had myself a new take on an already adorable necklace.

It's so easy and such a great way to refresh a necklace that isn't getting much use anymore...gotta love that. Enjoy your day, lovelies!

canary, sing.

Hello, lovelies! I have a little DIY to share today...

On a recent shopping trip with mama fabulous, tucked away under a table in one of the little shops we ran into, were these lilac ceramic candle holders. The shape, not the color, caught my eye and they were just $12. I decided that a coat of the canary yellow gloss I've been dreaming about would be the perfect way to make them shine.

(Please excuse my poor lighting...but you get the point.)

I am so happy with how they turned out and can't believe how different they look. MUCH more modern, and such a fun pop of color, don't you think?

(This is a much better representation of the actual color.  What can I say?  Better lighting.)

I have another fun DIY bargain coming tomorrow so stay tuned!

3.17.2010

happy st. paddy's day.

Being Irish, I could not post today without celebrating here on the blog. (Not to mention, green is one of my favorite colors!) I've noticed that Anthropologie is really having a moment with the color green, which I love. So today, I bring you my favorite green pretties, sure to brighten up today and every day of the year. Which one is your favorite?

May the luck of the Irish be with you all today & always!

3.16.2010

mari rewerked.

Hello, lovelies! I am here today with another Dallas Flea find...Mari Rewerked. Mari makes the most amazing, one of a kind vintage "rewerked" items, including the amazing shawls below. I picked up a black one that has a slight gold sparkle and love it. They flatter every shape, are comfortable and add a layer of sophistication to any outfit. I wore mine with a tee and skinny jeans and instantly felt more pulled together.  I love that you could wear them over anything...leggings and a tank, belted over a dress, etc.  I think I am going to need another one!

Grab one for yourself here.

3.15.2010

lighten up.

Sometimes, to make a big change in a room you just need a little paint (and I'm not talking about on the walls.) Yesterday, I decided to paint my bedside table a glossy white. I have been wanting something white there and instead of buying something new I figured I would paint instead. (A much more budget friendly project, please and thank you!)

The white paint makes all the difference, don't you think? Combined with a few books, my lovely lamp and one of the prints I won; I really love how it has come together.

At some point I would love to paint it a really fun color...maybe canary yellow ? What do you think?

3.14.2010

hello, yellow.

If you have read my blog for awhile, you know of my love for my all white bedding. I've been searching for ideas on how to bring some punch without being too bold. Thankfully, I stumbled upon these photos, which are the perfect inspiration.

Do you not love?

megan adams designs.

Hello and happy Sunday, friends! Did any of you fellow locals get a chance to go to Dallas Flea yesterday? I sure hope so because it was amazing! I have several items and shops to tell you about from the flea and even got to say hello to a few fellow blog friends (hi Beth & Laura!)

Today I want to share an amazing textile designer that is actually a friend of a friend...Megan of Megan Adams Designs. She designs gorgeous fabric and also makes amazing pillows, lampshades and clutches. I picked up one of her clutches yesterday...animal print ikat? Yes, please.

Isn't she lovely?

Actually, everything Megan designs is lovely, and I can't wait to get my hands on some pillows & a lampshade.

See what I mean? Gorgeous, I know. Check out her site for yourself here.

my "lovelies" prizes

Since I won best interior design blog on The Lovelies thanks to all of you, I had to share what I got from the pretty prize box!
I selected these 2 beautiful photo prints. The one on the left is called "Dance" by Create Love Laugh. The one on the right of the teacup is by Violet Bella. Aren't they gorgeous? I can't wait to get them framed!

Thanks again to all who voted for me. Your support means so much.

BTW...Is anyone going to Dallas Flea tomorrow? If so, be sure to leave me a comment! Have a wonderful weekend, friends!  xo, k

vegas wedding, part 2.

As I mentioned before, I am breaking down our Vegas trip into 2 posts, so here's the second one...

Heather and Jeff got married in a sweet, happy tear filled wedding in the MGM Grand gardens. She looked so gorgeous and it was such a special moment to be a part of.

After the wedding there was a dinner reception, which was lots of fun and very yummy. Later that night we had to take part in some of the Vegas night life (of course!) One of Jeff's friends got us a really good deal at LAX for bottle service (no lines, thank you.) We had 2 balconies that overlooked the crowd which was amazing because that is truly not our scene. Ha! It was so much fun to dance, be silly and not be in the middle of all the craziness downstairs. Funny moment of the night: remember Blake Lewis from American Idol? He was there--and he sang. So random.

Overall the trip was completely awesome. I feel so blessed to be a part of the close knit "crew" that we are and look forward to so many more amazing memories. Congratulations Heather & Jeff...we love you! Happy weekend lovelies!

3.11.2010

under the weather.

Hi friends! Just wanted to quickly post as I've been rather quiet on the blog this week. I've been battling a yucky cold since Monday but hope to be back to regular blogging tomorrow.  (This also means I have been really terrible about replying to emails, so if you've contacted me thanks in advance for your patience.) Talk to you soon, lovelies!

3.09.2010

vegas, part 1.

So, I am going to make my Vegas post into 2 separate ones, which I realize might be a bit boring to some of you if you're not at all interested in this pictures. Hang in there...I'll be back to the design stuff later this week. :)

We flew to Vegas EARLY Friday morning (6:40 am!) and got there at 9 in the morning, local time. It ended up being great because Robbie and I had plenty of time to walk the strip and were even able to meet up with Heather and Jeff (the bride and groom) for a late lunch before everyone else arrived.

It was really fun to see the new City Center & go to Crystals, the Rodeo Drive of Vegas. I was completely in love when I spotted the TWO story Louis Vuitton...and my friends will tell you that is like a candy store for me. Ha! One other thing I loved...they incorporated real oranges into the landscaping. Piles and piles of them. It was so pretty.

That evening was the rehearsal, followed by a yummy dinner at Wolfgang Puck and drinks. Here are a few pictures from the rest of the day and that night:

Stay tuned for post 2: The Vegas Wedding, soon!

3.08.2010

I'm back!

Hello lovelies! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was divine because I spent it here:

Vegas, baby!

Our GREAT friends, Heather + Jeff got hitched in Vegas this past weekend (congrats, guys!) in a beautiful wedding in an outside garden of the MGM Grand. We have a very close knit group and this was our first big trip all together. It was greatness.

I took LOTS of pictures, which I will share later this week, but for now a little Monday inspiration courtsey of some AMAZING chairs I spotted at the Ben Sherman store at the Planet Hollywood shops. The wallpaper is bananas. I love the decor of that store.

love the pattern on pattern

Have a great Monday, friends!

3.05.2010

weekend pretties.

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am that the weekend is here! I have big fun plans that include the pretties below...which you'll have to wait until Monday to hear all about.
Until then...have a wonderful weekend!

3.03.2010

one lovely find.

I love these garlands from etsy shop, The Gilded Bee.
Among all the endless color options you'll also find lots of little pretties that you're sure to love.

How would you use them?
Wrapping paper?
In your home?
Do tell.
Check out the shop for yourself, here.

3.02.2010

dear west elm,

I am in love with your dhurrie poufs. I could provide a very nice home for 2 of them, preferrably in the platinum/ivory octagon pattern. Just thought you'd like to know.

Signed,
K

3.01.2010

thank you, lovelies!

Happy Monday, friends! I would like to start off by saying THANK YOU a million times over to all who voted for me on The Lovelies. Because of you, I won the award for best interior design blog. I love sharing my finds and inspirations with you all and feel so honored to be a part of such an amazing community of bloggers.

On another note...
Often when I am out and about, whether it be at a party, or while shopping my favorite local stores, blogging will come up. Then I'm asked for my blog address, or email, and I scribble it down on whatever random piece of paper happens to be closest. Not too chic. So, I decided to get some "blog" cards. So much cuter than scrap paper and a much better way to share my blog address with new friends. They're from etsy shop, Pixel Impress.

That's all for now. It's a rainy day in Dallas, which works for me...I have lots of work to do! Have a great day!
P.S.  The Bachelor season finale is tonight.  Have you been watching?  Who is Jake going to pick?
