It's been one of those crazy weeks...you know, the ones that make you love the weekend even more. This week I have been on the most ridiculous search for dresses for my upcoming Vegas trip. (Think 5, yes FIVE, different malls & countless hours searching online.) I just could not find anything that I loved. Thankfully, I managed to get a few things and feel like I can be excited about the trip now. (Don't you just feel better in new clothes for a trip?!!) My mom and I are going to shop for shoes, jewelry & clutches tomorrow which will be so much more fun; especially since I'll be hanging with mama fabulous all day. Nothing better.

On top of all that...work was crazy this week...I've been super busy at Fabulous K Creative and I had my brother's graduation. Whew! This chick is ready for some relaxation! So...no major post today...just some Friday flowers from me to you.

so proud.

I am going to take a moment to do one of my "document a life moment posts"...something I do in between my design posts to have as a sort of scrapbook to look back on.

Today was a big day for my family, namely my younger brother Colin, as he graduated from the fire academy! He has spent the last 3 months studying, taking tests and the last 2 weeks away at the academy. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for him because I know that he has found his passion.

Colin, you are going to be an amazing fire fighter. Your strength, courage and determination are humbling and you are already a hero to me. xo, your sis.

window shopping.

Hello lovelies! Today is a gloomy, rainy day in Dallas...perfect for being lazy and staying inside. Also perfect to do little virtual window shopping. Check out some of the gems that caught my eye:

I love the pillow. It's velvet...and it's cheap. I'm seriously considering it. And the feather plate, too. I love them both.

My weekend has been good...last night I went to dinner with Robbie and this sweet girl:

That's Katie of Life in the Fulmer Lane. Love her...she's so much fun. After, we met my bestie Sue for a quick drink at The Ginger Man. (Something we don't get to do too often since she's the mama of two of the sweetest little girls!) Good times had by all. Hope you all have had a lovely weekend as well!

My friend Wendy recently asked me to design invitations for her daughter's 2nd birthday party. They turned out amazing and I thought it would be fun to share them with you all.

Have you ever heard of 1154 Lill Studio ? When I lived in Kansas City, I would visit their store often and loved it. They're a custom handbag store and they now have super cute customizable pillows as well. I would love to get a few for my couch...the pattern & color combinations are endless!

monday inspirations.

Hello pretties! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Mine was good... dinner, drinks & Olympic opening ceremonies with friends on Friday, Taco Diner & Valentine's Day (the movie) with Katie on Saturday night (the boys were playing poker) and Fireside Pies & a movie with Robbie last night. So much fun. All of our snow is just about melted but it is still so cold (29 degrees right now...eek!) Here's some inspiration to kick off your week...enjoy your day!

the big snow 2010.

I will apologize in advance for more snow pictures, but we had a monumental snow here yesterday (12 inches in Dallas!) and I want to document it. I can't believe that we got 24 hours of solid snow (and TWO snow days for me.) It's been so lovely. There is just something so quiet and beautiful about falling snow. It's been such a treat.

And since I have bombarded you all with snow pictures over the last 2 days, I figured I would share a couple design related pictures as well. You might rememeber (see here) I took the plunge into white bedding, which has been amazing & I still love. I never mentioned that I decided to get rid of the Simply Shabby Chic bedding that I got. Although I loved the look of it, the quality was not what I was looking for (too thin/did not fit my duvet properly.) I decided to go with an organic cotton set from West Elm instead & I am so happy I did. It's such good quality & looks great--I truly love it!

I know you can't tell but the throw pillow has a slight silver metallic sheen to it. It was a $15 PBarn find!

snow day.

Oh my, are we getting some SNOW today! By the time it's all said and done, they're talking 6-10 inches; that's a lot for Dallas. I think I heard that this is the 8th snowy-ist (sorry for the made up word) winter EVER. One thing is for sure...I'm loving it...and so did Tucker when we went out this morning.

I took these pictures just a couple hours after it started snowing this morning.
There is a lot more on the ground now!

strawberry soda (mini)cupcakes.

Tonight my friend Katie is hosting a girls night at her house, which is something she does for every holiday (this one is for Valentine's Day, obviously.) BTW...if you don't read Katie's blog then you should; it's hilarious. Check it out here.

Ok, back to the cupcakes. I saw a recipe on this blog (hi Britney!) for a strawberry cake that had a secret ingredient: strawberry soda. Perfect for Valentine's Day...right? I made my version into mini cupcakes, with pink vanilla frosting. They were so easy to make & turned out really cute!

Sorry to switch the design up on you all again so quickly! I am in the process of deciding on a final look for this blog (something that is not very easy when you are blog designer, I assure you.) Since this is a design inspiration blog, I feel like it should be crisp, clean, simple and modern. Any ideas on color combos you think would work? I am inspired by the colors of the Pantone Color Report | Spring 2010 ...especially the turquoise and pink champagne.

I'll be mulling it over...in the meantime, enjoy my temporary look!
