to my fabulous friend.

(heather & I at my birthday party)

I hope this year is the most amazing yet.  I know it will be simply fabulous, just like you. Oh, and I seriously can't wait to celebrate your wedding (in Vegas!) Thank you being one of my very best friends!

the bees knees.

I am speaking of my friend Julie @ Joy's Hope, cause that's what she is. (the bees knees.) I recieved a little package of joy in my mailbox and was so touched that she spoiled me so very rotten.  Inside were the most adorably wrapped presents wtih leopard paper and turquoise bows (her signature color); I should have taken a picture of them but I too excited to see what was inside! See why...

Lots of goodies, including one of her famous pretty. messy. flowers & scarves! Oh how this woman makes me wish I had a sewing machiene. And the colors? BA-NANAS. I love.

Oh, and Tucker loves, too. See...

Thank you my dear California friend! You have the biggest heart that you share with so many. I am blessed that you have shared a little piece with me.  Now move to Texas so we can be neighbors, please and thank you.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

rock on.

Shall we just take a moment to discuss another one of my wish list/design crush items? Yes, you say? Good...because this one is truly fabulous.

Oh, Eames Rocker, how I love thee. Seriously, I can not even begin to tell you how much I want this chair. In white. With the walnut zinc finish (pictured above.) Gorgeous.

still on my wish list.

Remember when I posted that I wanted a white faux deer head?  Look at this pretty space from Isabella & Max Rooms (found via Made By Girl .)

Fabulous, right? Admit it...
You kind of want one now, too.

love notes.

I must start off this post by telling you I am not a huge fan of Valentine's Day. I think it's commercial & a bit cheesy (not to mention, I loathe red roses...a trait I get from mama fabulous, who feels the exact same way.) I can appreciate the sweet side of the day though, which is why I must share what I think is the most adorable gift ever:

Pen your own love note and leave for your sweetheart.  Sigh.  Do you love it as much as I do?  Find one for yourself here.

details.

While reading this feature on designer Beth Dotolo on Styleture , I was reminded that it's all in the details:

Sophisticated skulls? Genius.

The drawer pulls? Simply gorgeous!

You can read the designer profile on Beth here, and can see more of her designs here (website) and here (blog). Photography by Kevin Dotolo .

book worm.

I have started a bit of a collection...of coffee table books. I love them. I think they are fabulous sources of inspiration and look amazing when used as decor. Here are some of my favorites from the growing collection:

From top to bottom:
Domino | The Book of Decorating: Do I really need to explain why I love this one? Duh.

Thrify Chic: Had my eye on it for a while; got it thanks to mama fabulous today. See notes below.

Kelly Wearstler | HUE: She rocks. Although her style is a bit more in your face then mine, it's still lovely to look at. My favorite thing about this book? The index telling specific locations & info on each glorious space.

Glamour Dogs: MUST HAVE for design & dog lovers! I love this book so much; a find from my favorite, Anthro.

Influence | Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen: Not a particular fan of theirs, but this book is straight up interesting...especially if you love fashion, photography and design.

Thrifty Chic came home with me today.

It's filled with beautiful and yes, thrifty, designs like these:

And even chic & easy DIYs like this adorable button lampshade:

Oh, and one more book share from today...I also picked these vintage pretties up:

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

1.22.2010

pretty organization.

I am loving these pretty PB jewelry display frames spotted here.
Such a clever way to display your pretties while keeping things neat and tidy.

I have to admit though...I think they would be rather easy to make yourself, if you're so inclined.  Just sayin'.

Happy weekend my lovelies!

pretty polish memo board.

I decided I needed a little more of a polished/glam feeling for the memo board above my desk, so I gave a vintage frame that I already had a little makeover. It was really simple & inexpensive, but looks great!

I spray painted my frame white first (it was previously grey) and then spray painted it silver. I also spray painted some chicken wire white, and then attached it to the frame.

I found these mini clothes pins at a local craft store and spray painted them to glam them up a bit

I think the new memo board definitely helps to achieve the look I am going for, while continuing to be functional. Pretty good for less than $15!

brocade home.

My friend (and design style twin) Molly introduced me to a fabulous site last night. Some of you may already be familiar, but it was new to me and I was full on giddy as I went through the links. Everything is so beautiful, but if I could order anything I wanted, right this second, then I would choose the following silver cubes, tufted ottoman, laser cut tv stand & framed shelf:

Love those silver cubes.

Tufted ottoman? Yes, please.

This laser cut detail is so pretty.

I adore this twist on the ornate frame.

Thanks for the share Molly!  BTW - I am working on a project tonight; hopefully I'll be able to share tomorrow!  Click here to shop (& swoon over!) Brocade Home for yourself.

wanted to say hello. So, hello.

I'll post more later.
It's gorgeous here in Dallas.
Hope your day is delightful as well.

my new desk!

I have had 2 main items on my list of wants for probably the last year or so: a new coffee table and a larger, more functional desk. Finally Yesterday, I was able to cross one off my list...I got a new desk! You seriously don't understand what a big deal this is for me, and what a difference it makes. I spend so much time on the computer thanks to Fabulous K Creative, which means MANY long hours at my desk. I have swooned over the West Elm Parsons Desk for ages and am so thrilled to have one of my own.

Look and how clean and simple it is...all that space! Ahhh, I love. I wanted something VERY simple over the desk (but still needed a way to hang little notes) so I used a staple gun to hang some garden fencing (less than $5) that I had leftover from another project. My plan is to order some mini clothes pins to add some additional interest.

It would look really cute painted, but I wanted mine to be "barley there". I have to admit...I am slightly in love with this area now. Happy day!  (Big thanks to Robbie for helping me get the desk home & set up!)

P.S.  Have you noticed anything new up there in the address bar?  My blog address is now www.fabulouskblog.com. Please update your links accordingly!

sweet.

There's been a lot of heavy hearts this week.
I hope your weekend is filled with nothing by sweetness.

everyday inspirations.

Have you ever taken a look at your surroundings and felt inspired? It happens to me on a daily basis, and because of that I have started keeping a camera with me at all times.

For my birthday, my parents got me a Nikon Coolpix, aka my "purse camera", since it's not possible for me to lug around my bigger Nikon all the time. I put my new camera to good use yesterday when I visited a little local frech cafe, Bonnie Ruth's. I loved it...amazing food, decor...everything. A must if you visit North Dallas. Here are some of the pictures I took; I hope they inspire you as well!

Little sidenote:  I am in the process of changing my domain name from fabulous-k.blogspot.com to www.fabulouskblog.com.  If things look a little strange between now and then, that's why.  Also, if I used to have you in my links (or if you want to be in my links) please leave a comment.  I think I lost them in the change so I'll need to re-enter them. Thanks!

perfect.

This room is so perfect I could cry (ok, not really, but I do think it's amazing.)  The color palette, the striped curtains, the mix of patterns, the textured rug...I love it. Ah, inspiration!

color inspiration: vintage pink.

Lately, I've been so drawn to the color pink. Not bright pink, or hot pink...more of a vintage, baby pink. So pretty & sophisticated. Pair it with ruffles or ornate details and I'm in love.

where did you get that?

Hello & Happy Wednesday!  Thank you so much for all your sweet words about my bedroom. I received several emails & comments asking where I got certain items and I am happy to share. You must know...I am thrifty, so everything is on the cheap. Don't get me wrong...it would be amazingly fun to spend thousands on my bedroom but that's not going to happen anytime soon. So here it is; a little guide for my lovely readers:

So as you can see...everything is mainly from Pottery Barn, Target & Ikea. (See...on the cheap, people!) Sample House is a local chain of shops here in Dallas (one of my favorites) & you can visit Small Words here (although it looks like Kim is not accepting new orders at the moment.)

Again, thanks for all your wonderful feedback. Happy shopping!

bedroom: simplified.

On Saturday I spent the entire day decluttering & rearranging. I really want my 2010 design story to be very organized, comfortable & pretty. I did not take any official "before" pictures (sorry!), but you can see a post with my previous bedding here & here, if you're interested.

I really did not buy anything new...except the bedding...and I rearranged & re-used what I already had. I love the way my bedroom feels now: clean, serene & a bit more sophisticated. I still have some other ideas that I would like to incorporate, but am really happy with the end result for now.

Did I mention the new bedding is Tucker approved?
