sneak peek.

Guess what I did tonight...

(Yes, my tree is white. Think modern white, not flocked white. Love.)

more to come...

pretties.

you're invited.

It's the time of year where we get busy with Christmas shopping, holiday events and the hustle and bustle that is the holiday season. It's common to be invited to several parities throughout December and for my friends, Swaim, Ryan and Robbie it's no different. A few years ago they got the idea to combine the party part with one of the important reasons for the season: GIVING. Giving thanks, love and sharing with those less fortunate then you...so they came up with Toys and Toddies. I am proud of how much they have done with this cause and how it grows each year. As the 3rd annual T&T is upon us, I want to invite you to join. This year's toy drive benefits Dallas Life, an organization that ministers to the homeless.  If you are local here in Dallas, feel free to bring a new, unwrapped gift to the Toys & Toddies party, this Saturday or you can simply make a donation and they will buy the gifts for you. Click here to visit the Toys & Toddies site for details. Be sure to let me know if you made a donation or plan on attending the event!

texas tech vs. baylor

Yesterday afternoon, we headed to the one and only Cowboys Stadium {which is amazing, btw} to watch our Red Raiders and Bears play. You might remember that this time last year, Erin, Robbie and I headed to Lubbock for this game, so it was nice to have it here in Dallas.

Our AMAZING seats

Tech wins! 20-13

It was a fun, exciting game!
And because I cheer for the Bears every single game BUT this one...
I have to take a moment to show some love to Baylor:

modern holiday

I am not really a traditionalist when it comes to my Christmas decor. Don't get me wrong...I love classic Christmas, but for my house...it's all about color and bling. I love to mix it up a bit and found these images quite inspirational.

I love this picture because it showcases my Christmas decor colors...pink & green!

What kind of holiday decor do you prefer? Traditional or Modern?
{images via living etc.}

thanksgiving 2009.

I hope you have all had a lovely Thanksgiving day. Ours was so nice and relaxing...fabulous family, beautiful day, a win for the Cowboys and yummy food...you can't go wrong. I thought I'd share some of the pieces of fall from my parent's house that I love, including little Thanksgiving touches.  {By the way, thank you to my mom for working so hard on Thanksgiving dinner.  YOU ARE THE BEST.}

Once again, Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.

thankful...

...and feeling so very blessed.

I have such a wonderful family, amazing {best} friends, a sweet puppy, a job that allows me to meet so many people from different walks of life, a way to showcase my creativity...and so much more. I am blessed. And today, I celebrate that, even though it is something I should celebrate and thank God for each and every day.

a few of my favorite blessings

I heart Nest.

I started my Thanksgiving break off by receiving an email from the wonderful Beth Dotolo of Nest Interiors. She was emailing to let me know that I won this:
A Jonathan Adler Misia Vase!

The best part?!! I get to go to the NEST store here in Dallas and have it signed by Jonathan Adler himself! I've been a fan for quite a while, especially after watching him as a judge on Top Design. I'll have to find a very special place for it!

Speaking of JA vases...I LOVE this one so very much:

In fact, NEST has all sorts of goodies to love.
Here are my personal favorites:

You can visit Nest here.
Also, be sure to visit Beth's blog here.
Thanks again Beth & Nest!

Since Thanksgiving is this week, I thought it would be fun to take a moment to celebrate something that I know many of us our thankful for...OUR FABULOUS BLOG FRIENDS AND COMMENTS! I know it's a busy time of year, but it's also the time to give to others and show how much you love them (or their blog.) For that reason...I came up with this:

I am thankful for each and every one of you that takes the time to read about my life and daily muses. This blog would be nothing without you all...and for that, I thank you!

milestone birthdays.

We've had a couple pretty big birthdays this week...first my wonderful grandmother turned 80!! We had a great dinner and lots of fun opening presents and eating cake. Two of my aunts came in for the occasion, so all four of her children were there to celebrate. I did not take a single picture though...was having too much fun with the fam. {I'll have to get pictures from my aunts!}

Last night we celebrated my good friend Swaim's 30th birthday. We headed to The Londoner and had a fabulous time celebrating the birthday boy. I did take pictures at this...here are a few!

On another note...Can you believe that Thanksgiving is this week?!!  I have 2 days of work and then 5 days off.  I am looking forward to time with family, relaxation and getting caught up on blogs designs!  Christmas will be here before you know it.  Time flies when you're having fun...

11.20.2009

naughty or nice.

Today I felt that first little pull of Christmas...I wanted to put up my tree. I resisted though...I refuse to put it up until next month because I know if I don't I'll be sick of it mid December. On the other hand...I am loving finding new Christmas goodies, like these adorable gift tags from Paper Eclectiques:

Find them here.

holly wreaths.

Don't you just love these paper wreaths from Paper Source?

I am itching to make one of these. I love that they come with everything you need, right down to the ribbon. Not to mention that they are pretty budget friendly. Has anyone ever made one of these? I've definitely got my eye on the white holly with the red berries. {And a lot of their other kits as well.}  LOVE.

BTW...all this red and green makes me want to deck my blog out for the holidays...but I am determined to wait until AFTER Thanksgiving.

{Personal sidenote:  Today would have been my Grandfather's 81st birthday.  I miss him dearly.  Love you G'pa.}

tonight.

New Moon + 3 of my favorite people. TONIGHT!!

Thank goodness for sneak previews.
Can't wait.
Is anyone else planning on seeing it this week?

waterfall.

This week has been BUSY...hence my lack of blogging. (Sorry.)
I did want to pop on to tell you that I majorly love these curtains, found here.
Aren't they great?  I think so.

Have a lovely week...be back soon!

happy sunday

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend! Mine has been good. Yesterday, I had a fun afternoon with my best friend Sue and her little girl Claire (4 yrs. old.) We went shopping and had dinner at a yummy restaurant. It was such a fun day, especially since Claire was so into walking around and looking at things. More than once she told me something was "cute" or that she would "wear that". When I bought her a little "treat" she was so happy to have her own bag to carry. It was adorable. I have to admit, I was just as excited about a bag I was carrying containing these...

I found these glam letter ornaments here for $2.50 each. Of course, they will not be ornaments for long...I have plans for them! Don't worry...I'll share once my project is complete.

Speaking of the holidays...I am going to be offering a $25 holiday premade line for blog designs. It will only be 2 designs, but you will be able to choose your colors. You can see both designs here and here. I wanted them to serve as kind of a holiday card for your blog. I'll be putting up ordering info on the site soon. {Feel free to let me know what you think!}

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend. One last thing...Go Cowboys!

11.13.2009

happy friday.

Today I want to share a very fun blogger with you...my friend Katie. She is new{er} to the blog world but has embraced blogging from the beginning. Her posts are funny and something everyone can relate to...so go check her out. Feel free to follow her as well...she'd love to have you! Click here to visit her blog.

Last night Katie hosted a fabulous Thanksgiving potluck girls night at her adorable house. I thought I'd share the recipe of the item I took: Shoepeg Corn Dip. There are about a billion ways to make this, but I am going to share the version I made:

Thanks for having us last night Katie...it was lovely!

letterpress ornaments.

This is the time of year, mid November, when we all start thinking about those holiday cards. I love sending and receiving them and have a tendency to hold on to them for years. That's why it's no surprise that I love these letterpress ornament cards...they are a sweet way to send a holiday greeting to friends while giving them something pretty to add to their decor. If I received one, I'd hang it on my tree for sure...

Find them at Louella Press here.

girls trip.

This is going to be a big picture post, mainly because this blog also serves as a journal of sorts and I want to have these pictures somewhere. Either way, I hope you'll enjoy them too.

Last weekend, we went on a mini girls trip down to the Texas Hill Country to a {beautiful} cabin that we rented. It was about 45 minutes north of Austin, in the country, surrounded by small vineyards. We were able to go to a wine tasting, my first ever, and favorite part about the trip. I loved the rolling hills and scenery so much...as you can see by my photos below.

The Perissos Vineyard

The Relaxation

I'd love to go back again with family and more friends...hopefully sooner, rather than later! Here's a little side note for all the Baylor girls: On the way back we stopped in Waco for lunch at Ninfa's & shopping at Spice.  Love it!
