trick or treat.

Tucker's all decked out for the day...and his costume is even inspired by his favorite toy {a squirrel}. Speaking of Tucker, he did not win the contest but THE HOWRY FAMILY wins a free blog design for voting!

Happy haunting!

fabulous feature

Being that tomorrow is Halloween, I knew today's feature had to be a spooky one...

A Brooklyn Limestone In Progress

Mrs. Limestone does Halloween like no other. Just take a look at her decorations and you'll see what I mean:

Amazing, right? I asked Mrs. Limestone what her favorite Halloween memory is and here's what she said:

"I'm about 10 and invited to my first Halloween party. I felt very grown up now that I was far too old and sophisticated to trick or treat with all those babies! But what to wear??? Now keep in mind that I grew up in a time when all store bought costumes came in a box that contained 1 terrible plastic mask held by an elastic string that would last about 4 seconds before snapping and 1 plastic jumpsuit made out of garbage bag material. In other words, they would just not do! There were no crafty older relatives to whip me up a good homemade costume so I went digging in my basement and found a long black dress that was at least 4 sizes too big for me and a broom. A little green makeup, my only pair of dressy shoes and some tights completed the look. I'm sure I looked like an insane bag lady child but I was the only one there in a costume that wasn't plastic and or a ghost so it was a big hit. I felt oh so glamorous! My love of Halloween was born then and there!"

She has such amazing taste...I highly recommend that you go visit her blog to see more of her Halloween genius as well as her other fabulous posts. You'll be adding her to your favorites for sure!  Click here to visit her blog.

Now you tell me...what is YOUR favorite Halloween memory?

sweet olive.

I have been trying to post about Halloween themed items all week...but this is too cute not to share.

My sister's pup, Olive, curled up on my couch this afternoon. How adorable is she?

Now, back to the Halloween posts...

wicked.

Do you like? {Believe it or not} Mama Fabulous found these at Home Goods and picked up a set for both of us. I think they are so cute and am definitely a fan of how easy they were to put up. Gotta love vinyl!  P.S.  They are a little bit sparkly, in keeping with my spooky glam theme.

batty.

How lovley are these simple, yet eye catching bats that I found via this blog?

See how she made them here.

Happy Wednesday!

my new favorite

I have to share the fabulous-ness of a shop I recently ran across...Dabney Lee at Home. I am IN LOVE with all the monogram, pattern & bright color options. The Square Lucite Tray is going on my Christmas list FOR SURE! I just need to figure out the colors first...ahhh, decisions.

little details

Sometimes it's the simple touches that make a room feel comfortable & special, like these little details in my bedroom...

linen lampshade on a modern lamp

handpainted watercolor prints by my granfather in vintage frames, passed down through generations

etched monogram on my wood, glass & linen jewelry box

lots of candles...and a mix of simplicity and glam

simple chair prints, lined up in a neat row

Now tell me...what touches do you add to make a space your own?

state fair of texas 2009

Yesterday, Robbie and I ventured out to the {one and only} State Fair of Texas, during TX/OU weekend. Although it was a bit crazy with all the boomer sooner & burnt orange, we had a good time. Two corn dogs, two cups of root beer out of the barrel, two fried smores, one sausage on a stick, several midway games and lots of people watching later, we headed home.

The Famous Texas Star

Big Tex

Fried Smores. Don't judge...they were delicious!

revealed: my desk

I decided to go ahead and do two posts in one day so I could share my weekend projects with you! As I have said before...I am in the process of bringing more grey into my home, which meant switching my desk colors, too. Before it was all brown with touched of green...now you'll see shades of yellow and grey. I am so happy with the new palette...much calmer...perfect for this little corner that I spend so much time at. Hope you enjoy!

The re-design gets the thumbs up from Tucker:

random notes

I have to take a moment to say thank you to mama fabulous...who got me this perfume when she was out shopping today. I've been wanting it for quite awhile and was so surprised {& ecstatic} when she gave it to me. Thank you Svettie (my nickname for her)--you are the best! {p.s. isn't the bottle pretty?}

Now on to other things...

- How do you like the new look? I wanted to organize things a bit better and really love this layout. All of my sidebar business is now at the bottom, making my posts & photos the star of this blog. Gotta love that!

- I am excited to start Fabulous Features this Friday. I've got a few fabulous blogs lined up and am about to start touring my Mr. Linky looking for more. I can't wait to visit you all! Be sure to add yourself to the list if you want me to visit you too.

- I am thinking about adding advertising space to my blog. Maybe. Is this something any of you would be interested in?

- Nip/Tuck starts tonight. It's a bit of a ridiculous show...but I watch anyway. Does anyone else?

- I am going to work on my project post so you can see the afters. I hope to post it this week!

That's all for now!

10.13.2009

revealed: my bathroom.

Remember this post about my bathroom wish list?  I thought it would be fun to give you a little glimpse into what my bathroom looks like now. I am so very happy with it and hope you all like it too!

design envy

I found an instant favorite to add to my 'adore' blogs when I stumbled upon this one. It's filled with beautiful pictures and lovely before and afters. When I saw these pieces...I was IN LOVE!

As if the paint refinishing is not enough...the accessories are like icing on the cupcake. Look at those tree branches...swoon!

Bunches of candles in a jar? Yes, please.
