8.29.2009

you know what's awesome...

...having your car hit by a complete idiot someone not paying attention.

Yeah, that's what happened to me today.

Like I said, so not awesome.

Oh, and my mom saw the whole thing happen.

More to come on that...but for now...I just need to go to bed.

Goodnight!

8.28.2009

have you missed me?

Well...

I've just spent the week in Florida for a work conference.

I am so. stinkin'. tired.

The picture above is the only picture I took of Florida...
and that was with my blackberry.

I have lots of emails waiting & blogs to design...
but for now, a good night's sleep in my own bed is in order.

Special thanks to my parents for spoiling taking amazing care of Tucker.
He did not want to leave.
Seriously.

So I bribed him with a new toy and his favorite dog bone...
and I think it reminded him why he loves me. :)

Off to relax now...
more to come this weekend!

8.21.2009

room love.

why I love this space:
1. clean, simplified color pallet w/ crisp bedding  2. the punch of color & pattern on the window & headboard  3.  that bed frame!! love it. 4. sweet little traditional ottoman with a pleated skirt. 5.  the intentional chaos of the nightstand.  all the stacked books = fabulous.  6. THE FLOOR. 7. task lighting hung on each side of the bed.  I really want some of those for my bedroom. 8. tiny punch of mustard yellow on the super mod {and unexpected!} chair.

what do you love about this space?

white out.

Kids & pets aside...
do you think you could live in an all white space?

I love the look of white on white decor.
{I don't think it would agree with my pup Tucker though.}
Doesn't it look so relaxing?

Enjoy your weekend.

amy butler

I ♥ Amy Butler fabric.
The colors...patterns...love it all.
So why did I not know that she now has bedding & rugs?
Am I the last person on the planet to know this?
Check them out:

So pretty.
Love it all.

so excited...

...that Project Runway is back tonight!!

It's on lifetime now...wonder if that will make a difference?

Either way, I'll be ready to watch all the Runway goodness: The All Star Challenge, PR season premier & Models of the Runway.

After being completely disappointed by Bravo's Fashion Show I am ready for the real deal to be back!
Anyone else excited about this?!! :)

lovely pink & green...

...and black and white.
When I came across pictures of this charming lake cottage I fell in love.

It uses two of my favorite color {pink & green and black & white} combos in such a pretty & sophisticated, yet modern way.

These photos really jumped out at me:

Seriously! I LOVE the style of this cottage!

Check out the rest of it at House Beautiful here.

Happy Wednesday!

secretary desks

Maybe it's the fact that I live in an apartment...but I love secretary desks and all that they offer.
My {fabulous} mom has one that {I believe} was my great grandfather's--I'd love to get my hands on it. I think I'd paint & distress the outside either cream or blue like above, and then paint the inside a fabulous color. I'd line the drawers with wallpaper to make it extra pretty and finish it off with some sparkly new drawer pulls. Sounds like a pretty good project to blog about...maybe it's something she'll let me have that we can tackle together one day! Until then I will swoon over pictures.
{image credits L to R: decor pad & house beautiful}

just a quick little post...

...to let you know how WW is going.

I lost 7.4 pounds this week!!

Thanks for all of your encouragement.
I'll keep you posted on my progress, if you are following along!

p.s. I did the 30 Day Shred dvd. Ouch. {I have to admit though...I like it.} No pain, no gain {or should I say loss}, people.

8.17.2009

more {window} shopping

I love just about everything that Tory Burch does. My favorites are her accessories. I know that everyone is starting to look to fall, but I could not help but be drawn in by the punchy, summer colors when looking through her site.

As much as I am ready for the cooler temps of fall...I'd gladly wear any one of these pretty accessories for the rest of the season.  The fact that her logo is fabulous doesn't hurt either...

Happy Monday Lovelies!

8.14.2009

i ♥ midnight

I heart all the midnight blue you are showing for fall, especially in your jewelry line.  Paired with gold, you can't go wrong.  Please feel free to send me anything and everything from my favorites below.

Signed,
Fabulous K

P.S.  I {love} that they all look vintage.

Don't ya'll love it all?
{Sigh.}
I do.
I think I need to start collecting BR jewelry
It's all that pretty.

Happy Weekend Lovelies!

8.12.2009

hello, cupcake.

Today is my first official day on Weight Watchers {and I'm really excited!} I'll also be dusting off the I've been too scared to try 30 day shred dvd that I have.

So...if you have a blog {or know of any} that is WW related, please comment and let me know. I am contemplating starting a WW blog since this is basically about design & such and I'd love to link to any good WW blogs.

Wish me luck!

{p.s. I know it seems odd that I would post a picture of a cupcake on this post, but with WW you can eat cupcakes if you want, thankyouverymuch!}  :)

inspiration board

Ok...enough sneak peeks already!
Time for me to {finally} reveal what I did with this old {got it for only $10} frame.

Here it is before:

and here is the after:

What do you think?

I plan on using it as an inspiration board of such. Since it's sitting right above my desk that I sit at {a lot} to design blogs I figured it would be nice to look up and see things that inspire me. It will be fun to see what makes it up there!

I decided it would be fun to use silver straight pins instead of push pins...cute, right?

TO MAKE MY INSPIRATION BOARD I:
Spray painted the frame.
Cut and pieced together square cork board pieces to fit my oval shape.
 {btw...I used duct tape to piece together my cork. that's how I roll.}
Covered cork with fabric using a staple gun to adhere fabric to cork.
Attached fabric covered cork to frames with screws.
Added fabulous floppy ribbon & the fabulous k pretty. messy. flower pin & hung it on the wall.

So simple & so cute.
Inspiration...here I come!

perfect.

There is not a single thing that I don't love about this space...
brought to us by the September issue of House Beautiful.

I now want to completely re-design by bedroom using these pictures for inspiration.
The floors make me want to cry...in a good way.
So glad I now have a scanner so I can share things like this with you.
Love.

my weekend

Hello Monday! I only have a couple weeks of summer vacy left before I start back to work. I am excited about this school year...but mainly excited that the beginning of school marks the beginning of the end of 100 degree days here in Texas. Come on fall!

My weekend was BUSY {but good}. Saturday morning I took part in a mentoring program when I mock interviewed 7th grade girls for a community outreach program's career seminar. After that I was poolside with my book...ahhh relaxation! Then, Saturday night we celebrated my friend Ryan's 30th birthday. We had such a good time...and I took way too many pictures, so I will just share one. Here you go:

{silly, I tell you.}

Sunday, Robbie & I went to brunch at a new NY style deli called Zinsky's. He had the biggest sandwich I have ever seen {and finished it, btw}. After, I napped {trust me, I needed it}, had dinner with my parents and then caught up on "True Blood".

I have not had time to post about my latest project that I hinted about below, and probably will not get to it until Wednesday, so here is another sneak peek:

In other news...I joined weight watchers today!!!  I signed up for the monthly pass so that I can go to the meetings & get all the online stuff.  I have to give a shout out to my aunt, Connie. She's lost 60 pounds on WW! Wish me luck ya'll!

That's all for now...I am off to work on blogs

Have a fabulous week!

friday finds

Today I spent the day with my fabulous mom...and it was so much fun! We headed to one of my favorite places, Downtown McKinney Square. From the start we found one good bargain after another. I love days like that!

Here's a little share of some of my goodies:

First things, first...look at my new tiered, bird topped basket! I have been searching for an affordable version of one of these for so. very. long. I love them. It was 50% off so we ended up getting it for $22. Love that. I am thinking of spray painting it a bright, fun color. We'll see...

I plan on using the blue glass cup as a pen/pencil holder, and got the plates for only $3/ea. {I have been looking for cute little places this size, so this was a FUN find for me!}

I also got those cute iron bookends...the pair for $6. Love it! And if you look closely...you can see how I am using the plates for now. {I already had the bird & cloche.}

Do you love this wooden box as much as I do? I am thinking I am going to use it as a place to put Tucker's treats. Oh, and it was also 50% off. Yay!

And now for a sneak peek at a project I finished up this week...here's the 'before':

{this frame was only $10, btw.}

I hope to post the 'after' this weekend.
Happy Friday!

office space

Now that I have a new desktop computer (vs. the laptop I used to work on) I am spending lots of time at my desk in my make shift office. It happens to be a corner of my bedroom (thanks apartment living.) Just because I don't have a big fancy office does not mean it still can't have style. I'm working on a few projects this week to spruce up my desk space and will be sharing them with you here, as always.

In the mean time, it's fun to dream as I look at these pretty home office/desk pictures...

technology happy.

So, I am a bit excited because I {finally} figured out how to install the scanner/printer/copier that I got last week. {thanks dad!} It means I can do lots of fun stuff:

like scan things for fun little projects...
{here I scanned the same wrapping paper I used in this project and then digitally added a frame and silhouette.}

And...most importantly...I can share some of the images that make me swoon in magazines and books, like this vanity project from the {very much} missed, Blueprint Magazine:
{isn't that cute?}

I am sure this is not very exciting to you now...but it's sure to make for some good eye candy posts later.

I {heart} technology.

On another note:  My mom and I found an awesome frame today!  I'll be transforming it tomorrow & will be sure to post about the project soon.
