peace love

I got this really amazing vintage frame in Canton many, many months ago & absolutely love it. I have been on the search to find something fun to put in it and thought I'd try my hand at making something myself.

My mom and I decided to have one of our fun craft days, so we headed to hob-lob for supplies and got to work.  She modge podge'd an adorable bunny (I wish I had my camera to show you) that turned out so cute.  And I made this...

It's so fun. Please keep in mind...it is by no means professional...but I had such a great time doing it.  I think next time I will use a different technique on the wording, by overall I am happy with the results. I love all the fun little "extras" like these:

and these:
I wanted it to be fun, funky, colorful & kind of rough-homemade looking.  What do you think? Mission accomplished?
Thanks Svettie (my mom) for such a fun day!  :)

a total waste of make-up...

I had a terrible day yesterday!  Work was just ridiculous...and it ended in tears.  Luckily, I have the most fabulous mom; talks with her always make me feel a million times better. I think you need to have days like that every once it a while...they make you appreciate the good & great days more!
Today was {much} better.

I had a very good day @ work and came home to this in the mailbox:
Sue's necklace.  Yay!  I can't wait to give it to her...especially since she was a cheerleader to me yesterday, too.  Erin @ the vintage pearl is amazing...the necklace is so adorable in person.  It's perfect...thank you erin!

Also making my day better?

This little guy...
Apparently it is perfectly acceptable to turn your bed upside down and use it as a hammock when you are this stinkin' cute. He's such a good pup...love him!  {And, yes, my BOY dog has a pink bed.  real men love pink, fyi}.

{no more pictures, please  :) }

I hope you are all having a great week!! Top Chef season finale tonight...any guesses who will win?

another fabulous invite

Today I finished up another set of invitations for my best friend, Sue.  You might remember seeing the invites I made for Claire's birthday here.  Olivia wants to have a playdate party where "all the girls from school come over to play".  Sue is doing a flower theme...they are going to paint flower pots and then play in their {super-cute-converted-from-attic-space} playroom.  The invitations turned out so cute printed out and I think Sue (& Olivia) will ♥ them!

I {obviously} blurred out their info :)

P.S. I loved the Oscars last night. I thought they were great!  Oh, and I thought the Bach: women tell all was super boring tonight.  Jason is a jack-a.  Just sayin'. We'll see what happens next week!

"and the oscar goes to..."

I am SO excited for the Academy Awards tonight.  In fact...I am about to head over to my mom's for a mini-Oscar party. FUN! :) I predict that Hugh Jackman will be a fabulous host & love love love all the glitz & glam! Check out the official ballot below...you can print one off yourself {to make your picks} here. Tell me...who are your favorites?

Oh, how I love these Marie Antoinette-inspired ETSY art pieces!!  They are all so cute & affordable...so you can have your cake and eat it, too. ;)

checking in.

It's FRIDAY!!  Hip, hip, hooray!  This week went {kinda} slow, I must say, so I am glad the weekend is here.  I took Tucker to the vet today...he's gained a pound, is rid of all his funk {he had a puppy cold & maybe kennel cough} and got a shot.  He's such a little stinker...but in the sweetest way. Funny story...remember how I told you Tucker's brother & sister were adopted so he was all by himself when I adopted him?  It turns out that they both go to the same vet as Tucker & were in there this morning. It would have been fun to see if they remembered each other.  Ok, enough puppy talk!

I have NO plans this weekend...and it's so nice.  I think it's going to be really nice weather...Yay! My mom & uncle are driving to Oklahoma to go to the casino tomorrow...wish I could go!  {Not sure what I would do with mr. tuck, though.}  And Sunday...THE OSCARS, baby!!  My mom is having an Oscar party & I can't wait.  Love all the gowns, glam & Hugh Jackman...he should be a fun host.

That's all for now...Robbie & I are about to go run errands {including the pet supply store to spoil our pups some more...}  I hope you are all having a fabulous Friday with weather as beautiful as we have today in Dallas.  Nice & sunny & warm.  LOVE IT!!  :)

2.18.2009

too cute.

this is how the puppies took their naps this afternoon.
they are so sweet.
i them.

loved it!

Robbie & I saw "he's just not that into you" last night.

I loved it.  He liked it. A lot.

I liked it waaaaay more than "confessions of a shopaholic".

I was not sure if I would like it because I heard from so many people that it was not that good.

My favorite couple was Jen & Ben.  SO CUTE.
Just sayin'.

If you've seen the movie...what did you think?

Did you love the ending as much as me?!!

farewell fabulous friend...

Is anyone else sad that Domino magazine is shutting it's doors?

First it was Blueprint, which was such a great design magazine, published by Martha.  I was so disappointed when they announced they were not going to publish it anymore.

And now, Domino. All because of stupid advertisers. You can check out the letter from the editors here.

I love Domino because it showcased style for everyone...things you could actually do yourself.  I love opening my mailbox to see the latest issue; now I am waiting for my last copy ever to arrive.  How sad.

I guess from now on I will just have to thumb through my old copies...sigh.

2.16.2009

the bachelor.

SPOILER ALERT!!
If you DVR'd the bach and have not watched it yet then don't read this post!

Ok, so just a quick post because I can't keep my disappointment in THE BACH to myself.  First of all, did they or did they not make it look like {last week} that Deanna was coming back THIS week???  I was waiting for it THE WHOLE SHOW.  Then...he gets rid of Jillian.  My fav.  Idiot.

Now...we have to wait TWO WEEKS until we see the Deanna thing.  It better be good.  That's all. Peace out.

Oh, one more thing...is anyone else tired of Chris Harrison saying, "this is the most SHOCKING rose ceremony EVER!"  He says it every week.  And what was that in the preview about the "intimate taping because of emotions" thing?  Ok, I'm done now, for real.

more birds/nests

I am sure you know how much I ♥ birds/nests.  Modern, shabby, whatever...I love 'em. I am also sure it's no surprise that it's a favorite of my fabulous {incredibly talented-i-get-my-design-skills-from-her} mom's either....in fact, she has some pieces that would make any bird lover swoon.  I guess the egg does not fall far from the nest. {ha! get it?}  We hope you enjoy!

simply fabulous, wouldn't you say?

etsy birds

If etsy accepted monopoly money, then I would buy all of these goodies.  You know I can't resist adorable bird-motifs...

10 randoms on the 10th

1.  Tucker had his 1st vet visit today.  He did GREAT and they all LOVE him.  They told me to use plain cheerios as training treats and to put {low sodium} chicken stock on his dry food to make it more appealing to mr. picky-eater-pants.  Both have worked like a charm this evening. Yay!

2.  Bear is sick.  He's got an upper respiratory infection.  Since tuck's been around him, the vet gave him some antibiotics, just in case.

3.  We are suppose to have some thunderstorms tonight.  I heart thunderstorms {as long as they are just loud and don't do any damage}.  Storms like that mean spring is coming soon. Can't wait!

4.  I love this season on the bachelor.  CAN'T WAIT 'til Deanna comes back.  Word to your mother...it's gonna be good.  I think I want him to pick Jillian...

5.  Say a prayer for my parents.  They are in the process of persuing a business venture that could be AMAZING.  I am not gonna talk about it right now, as not to jinx it, but if it works how we want it to then it will be a dream come true!

6.  I want to see "he's just not that into you", "coraline" & "confessions of a shopaholic".  Bad.

7.  I reaaally want a new coffee table.  My living room is on my nerves.  Ever feel that way about your house?

8.  I need to get my hair colored.  Oh, and I decided I am going to grow it out.  I think I will like it since my bangs are completely grown out now.  That took forever, btw.

9.  Tucker is stinky and needs a bath.  Maybe I will give him one in the sink with baby shampoo...

10.  I am going to change my blog design soon...again.

that's all.  have a fabulous night!

a tale of 2 pups

I thought I'd take a moment to share with you the full story of how I got {new puppy} Tucker. It all started when Robbie decided he wanted to get a dog.  We started looking online at the shelters and even visited a few of the local city ones here.  Whenever I go into those places, my heart strings pull, but I have pretty good restraint when it comes to taking one home.

You need to know...I have grown up with dogs...in fact, I have had 11 dogs in my family [McGhee, Morgan, Bubba, Snickers, Larry, Mosey Girl, Bella, Jack, Rudy, Izzy & Olive.  My parents currently have Bella, Izzy & Rudy and Erin has Olive].  We are dog people, for sure.

Back to the story.  Robbie saw lots of cute dogs, but never "the one".  Then, on a whim, we decided to go to Operation Kindness, an hour before they closed.  And we saw this guy:

That's Bear.  Robbie instantly knew he was the one.  So, he adopted him on Monday, and he would be ready for pick-up on Thursday.  (He had to get neutered, that's their policy).  Of course, I browsed through all the puppies and saw this little guy:

Hi name was Brian at the time, and he was all by himself since his brother and sister had just been adopted.  I petted him through his cage as he slept but never got him out.  Adopting him was not in my mind at that time.

The next day I woke up thinking of "Brian".  I could not stop thinking about him...which is so unlike me.  I see cute little dogs all the time, especially at work, because my boss has a rescue org., so she constantly has dogs in her office from the streets.  "Brian" was different.  There was something about him.  After I finished some stuff for work I headed to Robbie's; he wanted me to go to the pet supply store with him to get ready for Bear.  I told him I could not stop thinking about "Brian". So, we went back to Operation Kindness to see him. After much "should I or shouldn't I", and text messages to my mom & sister, they all told me to get him.  So, I adopted him.  He got to come home that day (because he was already fixed) and the rest is history.

Last week was CRAZY.  New puppy that I did not plan on getting = very unorganized kelly.  It was nuts around here. Olive has been a bit territorial; she is used to being the only dog. Hopefully they will be best buds soon!  Bear and Tuck LOVE each other.  It's fun to see them play.

Overall he is a great puppy.  He is very cuddly, sleeps A LOT (is that a puppy thing?) & loves walks (he does awesome on a leash).  Now we are working on crate training, although I let him sleep in my bed.  {I can't resist...he is so little and cuddly and sleeps through the night that way!}  I would love any ideas on crate training.  It will be for when I am not home or need him out of the way.

If you made it to the end of this {long, possibly boring post} then you are probably a dog person.  Ha ha.  Like I said...let me know your crate training/potty training secrets.  Just leave me a comment...I could use the help!!

P.S.  Everyone asks what kind of dog he is (on our walks, especially).  He is a mutt, but we think he has terrier, maybe some beagle, maybe some dachshund. Is it crazy that I am thinking of getting the doggie DNA kit?  I saw someone {on a blog, of course} do one and it looked like it worked.  I am curious...  (UPDATED:  Tucker is a border terrier mix....and no, I did not get the doggie DNA test.  Ha!)

happy birthday heather!

Last night we celebrated my friend Heather's {or Heather Fabulous, as I like to call her} bithday.

happy friday!

how could you not love this face?

celebrate life.

Today marks the one year anniversary of my grandfather's passing.

It's hard to believe that he has been gone to heaven for a year now.

He was the funniest, most caring, never-met-a-stranger kind of guy.

He was a favorite to all of those who met him; and will never stop being missed.

Today we celebrate his life.  We celebrate the memories we had with him and the amazing person he was.

WE LOVE & MISS YOU G'PA!

valentine's day - fresh radar style.

Robbie just finished up a post over at Fresh Radar & it's one that I thought I'd link to since it's got lots and lots of great ideas.  It's all about buying the perfect Valentine's Day gift for your man...who would not like a little help with that?!!

So, click over to the post here & feel free to leave him a comment if you like any of his ideas!

Introducing...

TUCKER
That's right...I have a new puppy!

Olive (my sister-who-lives with me's puppy) loves him and he loves her!

They played and played for HOURS tonight.  I think it's great for them BOTH.

Now, your must know...I did not plan on getting a puppy...

but after a trip to Operation Kindness with Robbie yesterday
(where he picked out new puppy, Bear)
I could not get this little guy out of my head.

So we went back today and got him.

He is the sweetest puppy so far.
{he's actually fast asleep at my feet as I type this}

Say a prayer I get some sleep tonight!
(Oh, and say a prayer for Bear, who's getting fixed tomorrow before he can come home!)

Check back tomorrow...I'll post the full story of the 2 pups then.  Good night!

(p.s.  he is VERY hard to take pictures of.  hee hee.)

One last thing...this is my 300th post!
I think Tucker is a pretty fabulous subject to write about to celebrate that.
