I started my healthy eating today!! I am trying to decided whether to do a whole blog about it...I think it may be helpful to me (& possibly anyone else that reads it). Before I make the decision, I need your help!
Leave me a comment with either:
- A healthy snack or meal tip (it has to be easy)
- A link to a blog about healthy eating
- A link to fabulous healthy recipes
-To tell me you want to be a part of {or will read} the blog if I start it!!
I hope to hear from you all! :)
I'll let you know how the workout goes...maybe I will even start using twitter on this journey...

A yummy dessert or breakfast muffin is to mix a can of pumpkin with a spice cake mix (or you can use chocolate). Mix it and then pour into muffin tins. Bake just like the directions on the box. They are SO yummy... even my hubby loves them. I think they are healthier if you split it amount 24 but I normally do a little less!
ReplyDeletewhen you have any "cheat" meals take the plate and divide it in half put WAY too much salt on the 1/2 you will not be eating - you must do it before to start - that way when it's soooo yummy the decision to only eat half is already made and you can't go back - that way you still can enjoy something you LOVE that you don't eat al lthe time but you don't go over board! I do it ALL the time -- works for dessert too! :) Good luck!! :)
ReplyDeleteSprinkle Fiber One on EVERYTHING!! cereal, salads, etc -- it's 0 WW points and helps to feel full :)
ReplyDeleteGood Luck! I have a weight loss blog that you're welcome to read if you want -- just let me know and I'll invite you!
Hey Fab - I'm doing the Ash is Fit 20/20 Challenge...losing 20 lbs in 20 weeks! I have a link over on my blog. So far, I'm on week 3 and have lost 6.4 lbs!
ReplyDeleteI have two tips for you...
Tip 1) SparkPeople.com!!! this is an absolutely FREE site that allows you to track what you eat, how many calories you burn, has great articles, great recipes...you name it, they've got it. I did an entire post about it last week, so go read it if you want to!
Tip 2)Have an Accountability partner! I will be it for you if you don't have one...but being able to tell someone what you did is awesome! My accountability partners are my hubs and my co-workers. I will make myself workout because I HATE saying "no" if they ask me whether or not I worked out that morning!
I hope this helps! It is not always an easy road, but it definitely gets easier as the weeks go on.
OH YOU KNOW I WOULD READ!!! I am ALWAYS a work-in-progress. I too would LOVE to know more healthy recipes, snacks...etc.
ReplyDeleteFor me when I get hungry I eat fruit. Apple slices and natural peanut butter is my favorite. I also like a cheese stick and almonds or walnuts. Sorry, not too helpful. BUT what REALLY can keep me from snacking too much is a Route 44 diet coke. I can sip on it all afternoon and it makes me happy. BUT I still try and drink plenty of water too!
Good luck!!! You can do it!
I'd like to participate...whatever that looks like! We just started working out with a trainer a couple weeks ago and I REALLY need to get back to WW. Maybe this is the motivation I need.
ReplyDeleteooo I would for sure read your new blog! One of my tips is to always have fruits and veggies washed and ready to snack on in your fridge. Also, Special K has delicious crackers...very tasty!
ReplyDeleteBMR. BMR. BMR. Its a pain to log all the calories and track how much you burn, but this is the nuts and bolts of weight loss. Once you know and get familiar with this concept it'll be easy to lose and then maintain it!!
ReplyDeleteTIP: Drink lots of water. Flavor it with Crystal Lite if you have to, but water helps you feel full so make sure to drink a full glass or more with every meal!
TIP: Get an accountability partner. Someone who holds you accountable for what you eat and how much exercise you are getting. Most times we can lie to ourselves, but not our friends and family!

ReplyDeleteShe has really great recipes and grocery list!!!
i have been doing weight watchers on my one and have lost 10.5 lbs. though i added back on 2 this past weekend. i LOVE easter!! so, yes i would read about weight loss!
ReplyDeletehere is something i make when i need something sweet.
"not so ice cream sandwiches"
1 pkg of reduced calorie graham crackers.
1 tub of fat free cool whip
mint extract
mix about 1/4 tsp of mint extract in the tub of whip cream. taste and add more if needed to your liking. brake 1 sheet of cracker in 1/2 and add 2 tbs of mint cool whip to the cracker. put the other half of the cracker on top to make a sandwich. wrap in plasic wrap and freeze. continue to make until all cool whip is gone. freeze all and grab one when your sweet tooth starts calling!
these are so good and every easy to make. they are just 1 ww point each!
also i add some mint ectract to my water! i love it and it is cheeper to make my own mint water than to buy it at the store!
hope you enjoy the ice cream sandwiches and good luck with your weight loss!!
blessings ~
when my roommates and i did WW in college our go-to snacks were the small bags of light microwavable kettle korn. we also made our own lowfat "ice cream sandwiches" out of chocolate graham crackers and light or fat-free cool whip. just spread cool whip on once cracker, top with another cracker and put in individual ziplocks in the freezer. can you tell sweet things are my weakness?!?
ReplyDeleteoh I would LOVE if you did that! I did a post last week with some healthy recipes/snack ideas: http://simplyfitbecca.blogspot.com/2009/04/works-for-me-wednesday-bring-on-fruit.html
ReplyDeleteI would totally read your blog about healthy eating and what not because I'm doing the same thing right now!!!
Definitely make sure to drink lots of water, it cleanses your system of toxins and makes you feel fuller.
ReplyDeleteI also really, really love the blog "Dinner Tonight" which is part of Martha Stewart. It has fairly easy, healthy ideas for a dinner meal each night. The best feature is "Grocery Bag" where it gives you a shopping list for the whole week and 5 recipes for dinner each night. I LOVE it.

Oooh I am up for participating in anything like this! I am beginning "Fit Fridays" on my blog as well :) I am on WW right now and have lost 13 pounds so far- almost to my 10% loss!!! Here is my snack tip that is soooo yummy: Fiber One Bars!!! My fave is the oats & chocolate one, and they are only 2 WW points. I eat them in the mornings for breakfast and for snacks- the best part?? They keep you FULL and are amazingly delish!!! You go girl, those skinny jeans are SO attainable!!! xoxoxox Holly
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you and will definitely read all of your posts! Who knows, maybe it will be the inspiration I need to get back into my skinny jeans! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know much, but this is pretty much my magical plan:
ReplyDelete1. Eat salad with almost every meal, and eat it first. The fiber helps fill you up, and it's super-healthy!
2. Don't stop eating carbs. You need the fuel when you are working out. However, it is important to eat them at breakfast and lunch, when you still have time to burn them off.
3. Find exercise that you enjoy. I'd rather eat glass while walking on fire than run on a treadmill. Jazzercise works for me. It's different every time, it's fun, and it's a great workout that goes by pretty quickly.
4. Cheat. Every now and then, you've got to have some fun or the stress will make your body hang on to the weight. There are a lot of small-but-yummy dessert options in the grocery store. Smart Ones Fudge Bars are amazing!
Good luck!
hey girl~ me and three of my friends have been on a weight loss journey since december with great success! you should check our blog out for tons of WW recipes, work out dvd reviews, and our struggles and survivals. It's a really tough journey & the mental part is just as important as the diet and exercise part. Get your mind ready to think completely different about everything! Good Luck, you can do it!

Have you seen my skinny jeans blog? I need to get back on the band wagon and update it! The link is on my blog! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a Great idea! I have just started working out and all that fun stuff it will be fun to go on that journey with you. Can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you have an iPhone, you should download the Lose It! application....it's a great (and very easy way) to track your calories and exercise. I'm loving it! It's very similar to Weight Watchers, but easier. And it's FREE!! Good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteYay for starting to eat healthy! I would read your blog if you started it! I feel like every other day we say we are going to commit to working out and "being healthy" but then find ourselves eating pizza for dinner and never working out!
ReplyDeleteFreeland's go to snack is cottage cheese. Im not a fan of the stuff so mine is fruit. Or really Im just a "snacker" and snack all day long. But I think it helps because I eat a lot less than if I just wait until breakfast, lunch, & dinner. I also enjoy Martha Stewarts everyday food - they have lots of specific healthy recipes on there! Cant wait to hear how everything goes! Brooke
I am right there with you sister. After four kids I too am determined to get into those skinny jeans. I am also on the lookout for healthy recipes:)
ReplyDeleteHey! Good luck, it's a hard journey. I've been on weight watchers with 3 of my friends since December. We have a blog and we split up the posts between the 4 of us. So that would be my warning about starting a blog...if you don't keep i tupdated very regularly you'll loose readers & I know you've got a lot of other things you're working on. Check out our site for great snack tips & workout info. www.fourfatchicks.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite healthy snack is Laughing Cow light cheese on bell pepper slices. So good! Good luck and if you start another blog I will read!!
ReplyDeleteHappy beginning! :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite websites for all things yummy but healthy and exercise is:

count me in.
ReplyDeletei too was thinking about how i was jenny craig-ing it a year ago. Lost 10 pounds in a month. fell off the wonderful wagon...and then got pregnant. opps.
but i have a work out buddy. we hit the gym for an hour three days a week. which is super hard with three kids, two schools, and household errands to run- with a baby. but we're doing it.
Drink heaps of water all day! Don't deprive yourself of everything, I find if I do, then I end up eating everything in sight. I allow myself to have a treat now and then, and I am satisfied and it doesn't make alot of difference. Good luck
ReplyDeleteFiber one bars (chocolate and oats) is YUMMY!!! I'm doing Weight Watchers.. only 2 pts. Eat it with a Diet Coke... makes me soo happy!! Filling too!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, this is my first time commenting on your personal blog, but I saw your post and I would looove to be a part of a blog about eating healthy. I've spent the last year exercising regularly, but I also snack regularly. Ouch! Its time to change my eating habits. I've definitely got some weight to lose and would do much better with a group. I'm on twitter already and so blog posts would fit nicely with tweets. Count me in if you start the new blog!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea for a blog...I would totally read it. I've been so lazy the whole weekend, and I definitely need to get back in the gym and start eating healthier... Good luck ;)
ReplyDeleteMy senior year in high school I got on a program called naturally slim. It changed my life! The director showed us its not "what" you eat - its about when and how! It is an amazing program with tips to really know when you are hungry! I love 18lbs in 6 weeks eating what I wanted! It is all about portion control and eat slowly!
