trick or treat!

Photobucket

I am off to find a costume for the big party tonight. Wish me luck! I will make sure to take lots and lots of pictures...it's sure to be hilarious. Robbie's costume alone cracks me up! Have a fabulous Halloween!

where's waldo?

Or should I say, "Where's Olive"? The dogs were all lined up waiting for my mom to give them dinner. Can you spot little miss O? When she visits my parents house she fits right in with the "big dogs"...Izzy, Bella and Rudy. This picture cracks me up. Leave me a comment if you can spot her! :)

this is a must!!

Oh my!! I saw this on Kim's blog and I had to share it with you. Turn your speakers up and listen to it now. WOW!

Can you believe that? Hilarious!! I wonder if he's still single...HA!

treats.

Ever wonder how to get high school kids to fill out your college "lead" cards? (Probably not, but with my job you do!) And, I have the answer...with candy & pencils. I use "goody bag drawings" to get the kids to turn in their lead cards after my presentations. It works like a charm...but is such a pain. I sit in from of the TV making my goodies bags, but I might need to think of something else...the bags are cute but the take FOREVER!

Also...I want to give my mom a shout out...she spent the day making adorable pumpkin and bat cookies FROM SCRATCH. Seriously...they are completely homemade...and so yummy. How fabulous is she?!

Can you believe Halloween is almost here? YESSS! Can't wait! Hope you all are having a fabulous week...don't forget to head over to Fab K Creative to order a blog makeover! :) I am off to watch Top Design now. Goodnight!

random things on a fall monday.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous fall Monday. Can you believe how amazing the temps outside feel? I love it. I am feeling a little bit giddy this week...Halloween is on Friday, the weather is beautiful and I am in really fun schools this week. Today I had a really fun class...they were cracking me up. And their teacher was the bomb.com. Love her. One of the kids has a full ride to OU for a football scholarship. Impressive. I asked him if he cried during TX/OU and he said, 'No, cause I had a funnel cake...how could you cry while you're eating one of those?" Funny kid. :)

My weekend was good...low key. Time with friends, which is always fabulous. I have to give a huge shout-out thank you to Robbie who sat in my living room last night putting together handouts for students and teacher packets while watching the ABC Sunday night shows. Thanks Robbie!

Little Miss O is doing better too. When I got home from work today she just laid beside me. So sweet. Erin has taken good care of her and once her "lovely lady bump" on her head goes down she will be good as new.

Now..Halloween. I need costume ideas. Something fun... not too hard or expensive. Nothing cheesy...maybe just clever. HELP! I think we will end up at this huge Halloween party that Robbie & Swaim's friend throws every year and I need a costume. And if you can think of one for Robbie then that's a bonus.

One last thing...Please visit the blog of sweet baby Witt. He's Annalee's new nephew and he needs all the prayers he can get. You can find his blog here.

That's all for now! Enjoy your evening and the cooler weather!

poor baby olive.

I was at a school this morning when I got a text from Erin that something was wrong with Olive. Overnight,  Olive must have been playing because she apparently bumped her head really hard and it has swelled.  She still has a soft spot so we are always so worried about her big head & bumping it. Erin said she was just not herself this morning so when Erin noticed that she had a scratched nose and head swelling she immediately took her to the vet.

The vet gave Olive an anti-inflammatory shot & some meds and said that we need to watch her to make sure the swelling does not increase (because that could cause seizures).  I feel so terrible for little O and am praying she gets well soon.  Erin stayed home today to cuddle with her.  I am so worried but am so glad Erin is taking such good care of her! Please say a little prayer that Olive gets better soon...and feel free to head over to Erin's blog to leave a comment...Olive is like Erin's baby so I am sure she could use the encouraging words.  {All you dog owners know what I am talking about here!}  Thanks friends!

head over stilettos.

Have you checked out my 'lil sis, Erin's blog yet? It's called "Head Over Stilettos" and is all about her life, her love of shopping and fashion and, of course, sweet little miss Olive makes cameo appearances here and there.  Make sure you check out her new fabulous layout...it's super cute and super Erin.  So, if you need another blog to read then check hers out! :)  Find it here. Don't forget to add her to your favorites or add yourself to her followers!  {Yes...I am giving a plug for my sis!) :)

my perfect pumpkin.

I bought our pumpkin today. (They are 2 for $10 here right now!)

I love my pumpkin.

It's perfect.

Round, fall orange, long stem.  Perfect.

And I can't wait to carve it.

I wonder what we will make it into...

No matter what, I am sure it will be fabulous.  Have I told you lately that I LOVE FALL?!! :)

fabulous fall.

I took this picture this morning...I thought the sky looked so pretty.  Not to mention that those clouds are a sign of the cooler weather coming our way.  I am looking forward to cooler temps...and the clothes that come with them! :)

I am so encouraged by all your comments about weight watchers.  I am looking forward to following the program and to getting back into working out.  I know it may seem crazy to start around this time of year, but I am going to Cabo in December for my 30th birthday so I have some amazing incentive right there!  More on my WW journey to come...

Have a happy Wednesday my fabulous bloggers! :)

fab k weekend wrap-up.

My weekend was good...Friday night I hung out with my fabulous mom--my dad was in Toronto. We had such a good time...went to Sample House.  I got a few things. For instance...

Olive LOVES to get into a plant that I have in the living room.  She rips off the leaves and shreds them to bits all over the carpet.  It's NOT fun to clean up.  So...I have been on the lookout for a plant stand, but they are all SO boring.  But not this one...it's PERFECT.  I ♥ Samplehouse.  It's the best.

I also got this mercury glass bird.  And another bottle with crystal topper.  Both are for my bedroom.  I am in the process of re-doing my bedroom (bedding & accessories).  Part of what I am doing is simple, clean, lots on neutrals & shiny bling (like mercury glass and clear lucite). More on that in a later post, too.  Anyway...the bird was a "gift" from my mom.  Thanks Svettie! :)
After shopping we headed to Tin Star for dinner.  Love that place.  Then we watched a movie (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day).   It was super cute.  I love time with Svettie. (That's what we call my mom.  It's not her name, just her nickname.  The story behind that will have to be it's own separate post).  It was a fabulous, relaxing Friday night!

Saturday, I dragged Robbie to get a manicure.  He needed one B-A-D and there is no shame in a straight man going and having clean hands.  I really wanted a mani & pedi because I had just purchased some new polish. (ck calvin klein polish in STEELE...fabulous!)  So, we headed to my nail place.  It was fun...apparently they do MANicures all the time--his hands looked clean but not overdone.  He will probably not like that I posted about this...but whatev! :)

Saturday night we met a bunch of people out at Quarter Bar on McKinney.  We sat on the rooftop deck--it was SO nice outside.  I LOVE this time of year.  Sunday, I went to my friend, Elizabeth's for the {pathetic} Cowboys game.  I did not last past halftime.  I went home and relaxed. :)

So, that was my weekend.  Also, here are some random thoughts I figured I'd share:
  • I really love my job...especially the hours.
  • I think I am gonna join weight watchers soon.
  • I have no idea what I want to do for Halloween.
  • I am excited a cool front is coming.  YAY!
  • I am looking forward to watching Gossip Girl and One Tree tonight.
  • I am ready to stop thinking about the election.
  • I wish my Mac was working but am thankful I have a sissy that will let me use hers.
  • I am thinking about having a contest soon.
  • I hope people will participate in my survey about blog background colors.
  • I hope you all have a fabulous week!
That's all for now my dear bloggers.  Until next time...

hugs,
fab k

good news.

My fabulous little sis has so graciously let me use her mac book until I get mine fixed!  Thanks Erin!!  More post to come later...for now I am off to a football party.  GO COWBOYS!!

10.16.2008

uh oh.

So, I dropped my Mac Powerbook today...and now the screen shows nothing but white. Ugh. I cried. Lots and lots. For 2 reasons...one, because I love my Mac. Lots. It lets me make my blog headers and it keeps all my pictures and makes my creative side happy. Second, because I do not have money to be spending on things like fixing laptops or getting new ones. I think I am going to try to hook my laptop up to a monitor since it's only the monitor with the problem {I think}. That means that I will be behind on making headers until I can access my Mac..sorry everyone. I will email you are on the wait list for one.

Right now, I am typing on my work laptop. I {finally} figured out how to get my wireless Internet to work on here...but I am not happy because it's a PC {ick.} and I can't do anything creative on it. So, Fabulous K will not be very fabulous for a bit. I hope you will all still love me.

new fabulous bloggers.

My little sister (and roommate), Erin, has started a blog! YAY! She works for a doctor here in Dallas and they do cosmetic gynecological procedures. It's actually kind of interesting (& they have even been on Hot On Beauty here in Dallas a few times). Erin is a mix of all things fabulous...she is funny, sassy, high maintenance, kind and is a super fabulous dresser. She has such a great sense of style. I would encourage you to check her blog out...I am sure it will be fun! It's called Head Over Stilettos and you can find it here or in my sidebar. Check it out!

Also, 2 of Erin's best friends, Stephanie & Sarah have started blogs as well. I love the way Stephanie writes...she is so smart and funny and so very "real". She has only posted a couple time but her posts are so honest and from the heart that I am excited to see what she writes next. You can check out Stephanie's blog, A little saccharine, a lot of tart, here. Sarah has been Erin's bestie since their times at Texas Tech. She's about to move to OKC with her sweet husband, Mas, and adorable baby, Saylor. I am looking forward to reading about their new adventures and seeing the pics of that sweet little girl. You can check out her blog, Sarah & Mas + Saylor, here.

If you visit their blogs, please leave them a comment telling them I sent you. We all know how those comments can be so encouraging to new bloggers. And you never know...the fairy blog mother maybe looking at the comments to grant wishes! ;) Happy reading!

"i feel like zach morris {saved by the bell} when he hurt his knee playing basketball." -Robbie, during his ER visit

Last night I got a call from Robbie saying that he hurt his foot at volleyball and thought he needed to go to the emergency room.  So, he met me at my apartment, we jumped in my car and headed to Baylor.  He was so manly, man {told them his pain was only a '3'} so I decided to take pictures to document in a post on my blog.  The things we do for our blogs...   :)

First they got his ID bracelet & vitals and then put us in a room.  {With a TV remote that did not work.  Boo.}
So, we talked, laughed, played on our cell phones and waited.  And waited.  And waited.  They finally came into his room and took x-rays of the foot.  And then we waited some more.  {We were the ONLY ones there...what takes so long?  GEESH!!}
Then the doctor came in a told him he has turf toe.  Ouch.  That's a severe sprain & tearing of the ligaments.  So, they gave him a sweet boot to wear...cool.  For a few weeks...not cool.
Now, I realize that it's not super fun to look at pictures of feet but the boot is too funny not to show the before and after.  Do you think they make that in Prada?  Ha Ha...
Even with the boot on, we had one happy patient.  I think it was the term "turf toe".  So manly, man.
The patient is doing well and resting at home today (doctor's orders!) with ice on that foot.  Get well soon, Robbie!

my must see tv.

One of my favorite things about fall is that all the fabulous shows come back.  I have {too many} favorites, and most of the time do not get to watch them all.  I need a DVR...that's right...I don't have a DVR...but I am moving after the first of the year and just figure I will get one then.  Thankfully, Robbie DVRs somethings for me {thanks!}, so I don't miss too many.  Anyway...

I thought I would list my favorites in a post--mainly because I am curious to see if any of you have the same TV tastes!  So, here you go...my fabulous favorites of the fall TV season.

SUNDAY:  Fox NFL Sunday.  I LOVE this.  Jimmy Johnson, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan...they are so funny.   I also watch Desperate Housewives (I think this show is a bit ridiculous, but I watch it anyway.  It's never been as good as it was the first season.) and Brothers & Sisters.

MONDAY:  Gossip Girl.  I love it.  It's such a trashy show--one of my guilty pleasures.  This is one that Robbie DVRs.  I think he kinda likes it too.  ;)

TUESDAY:  The Rachel Zoe Project.  Oh, Em, Gee.  LOVE HER.  She is so over-the-top fab. Season finale this week =  sad Tuesday nights.

WEDNESDAY:  NEW FAV ALERT!!  Private Practice.  I love this show...I did not watch any episodes last season but I love this season.  I think it's been better than Greys this season. Seriously.  Also...Lipstick Jungle, Project Runway & Top Design...PR has it's last show of the season this week though. (Wednesdays are busy for me!)

THURSDAY:  Do you even have to ask?  GREYS.  Duh.   If I had DVR then I would also say The Office, but I don't, so I won't.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY:  I don't watch any shows on these nights...I am usually a busy bee or watching movies.

OTHER SHOWS I OCCASIONALLY WATCH:    The Soup, The Dish, Iron Chef, Good Eats, The Girls Next Door, Sunset Tan & anything on HGTV.

SHOWS I WILL WATCH RE-RUNS OF ANYTIME:  I Love Lucy (I have always loved that show!), 90210 (the original), Family Guy (thanks to Robbie for getting me hooked), Sex & the City (duh).

I know I am leaving some out...so leave me a comment with your favorites, especially if there are shows I should be watching!  :)

swoozies.

Yesterday, we also went to Swoozie's for the first time.  How have I not been there before?  I have heard about it...and read about it on other blogs, but I had never been for myself.  It is such a cute store.  Of course, I did not leave empty handed!  I am so glad that they just opened up a new one closer to me.  YAY!  Here are my purchases...sharing with you all, as always!  :)

I have a baby shower next month for my friend, Dana, who's having a boy, baby Easton.  (Don't worry, she does not read my blog...as far as I know.)  I could not resist this cute bib and these adorable burp cloths.  Too cute.
I also picked up some super cute candy corn candles.  They are so unexpected in my vintage candle sconces.  Love 'em.
Glad I have another fabulous store to add to my list of favorites!  Have a fabulous Sunday! :)

more fabulous fall finds.

I thought I would share some of the fun, fabulous, fall finds that we found today.  We headed up to downtown McKinney (love it there) & Watters Creek in Allen.  It was so much fun.  We had lunch at Rick's Chop House (delish burgers!) and wandered around to my fav stores (C.J. Riley, Ambrosia, The Red Hen).  I found some fabulous things...which is easy to do in downtown McKinney. Hope you like my finds!

I got this adorable candle.  It's covered in beads.  Nothing like a little Halloween glam!
Can I just say that I LOVE flameless tea lights?  Fabulous.  I love that I can use this candle year after year because I am not actually burning anything.   YESSSSS!
I had to have this cute pumpkin.  I like that I can have it out until the Christmas decor comes out.  [Suzanne...this pick it for you.  I thought of you when I took it!]  :)
I have been looking for a halloween "something" for my cloche & pedestal for a looooong time. I love this little pumpkin...perfect!
And, of course...more yummy smelling fall candles.  This one is Fall Festival by Novella.  Love it!
All of these things add to the reason why I LOVE fall!  I hope you are all having a good weekend.

To my Sooner (Suz & Wendy) & Longhorn friends...what a game today!  I have to admit, it did not end the way I though it would.  Thankfully, my Texas Tech Red Raiders pulled it out over Nebraska in OT today! Whew!  Well, gotta go now...time to get ready for our evening out tonight.  Should be kinda crazy with all the OU/UT fans in town.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

i ♥ fab k.

I made a new and improved version of my fabulous k button.  Feel free to grab it (save it to your desktop on PCs and drag it to your desktop on Macs) and add it to your page using the "picture" widget. Just make sure you add my link (fabulous-k.blogspot.com) to make it "click-able".  Please leave me a comment if you add it to your page!  Thanks for showing your fab k love! :)

olive glam.

Yesterday, Erin bought Olive her 1st piece a clothing...a very fabulous sweater.

Now, I am not one to really dress the dog but for little miss o it's kind of a necessity.  At 5 months she is only 2 pounds which means winter might be rough on her itty bitty body.  Good thing she can keep warm and look glam & fabulous!

Happy Friday, everyone!  :)

use your voice.

I am not a very political person...but I do care about certain issues and have to admit that I am a bit freaked out by everything that is going on right now.  I feel more compelled to vote this year than I ever have before.  I am not going to make this about any particular candidates, that's not what my blog is for.  But I will say this...no matter who you choose to support...VOTE.  Get out there and VOTE.  It's so important and this election will affect every single piece of our lives. When we were at The Swell Season concert a couple weeks ago, the lead singer, who is Irish, said something that made me think.  He said, "Being European, I have a different perspective on this whole election thing.  All I am gonna say is....vote.  The things that happen in America affect everyone in the entire world."  It's true.  The ENTIRE world.   So, there you go.  That's all I am going to say about it.  Use your voice on November 4th.  The whole world is counting on us.

I want to share this Declare Yourself video...I am sure you've seen it on many other blogs...but for the one or two of you that havn't, please watch it now...it's good.  :)

"make it work."

{images via bravo}

Only one more episode until the season finale of my fabulous favorite, Project Runway.  I am not going to talk about who the final 3 are as not to spoil anything for anyone who has it DVR'd but I am curious...who do YOU want to win?

I heart Jerell.  He's so fun.  I think Lee Ann is SO amazingly talented...she may be the one to beat.  Korto...eh, she's ok in my book.  And Kinley? UGH.  Her attitude sucks. (Even though I am not going to spoil the show...I will say this:  I am disappointed with the one they sent home.) Can't wait to see the runway shows next week!

Until then...auf wiedersehen!

"everyone deserves a lifetime."

My best friend, Sue, is participating in the Avon 3 Day for breast cancer. This is her 3rd year in a row to do it, which I think is amazing. (I know there are a few of you participating in it this year...I hope to see you at the finish line when we greet Sue!)  Every year she has a "walk party" to raise money. This year, she had already met her goal (over $2,000) so any money that she raised last night was extra. (Awesome!)  We ended up raising over $300 last night and had a great time doing it.  Sue and David live in a fabulous house they built on Lake Ray Hubbard and we enjoyed good food, drinks and friends. Robbie and I even snuck out with David to ride around in his golf cart on the golf course.  The weather was so nice--it was so much fun.  I did not take a ton of pictures, but I thought I would share some of the ones I did.

Our fabulous hosts, David & Sue
Sweet baby Charlie*
*Let me tell you a little side story about baby Charlie.  He is our friend, Erin's new little baby and was born 6 weeks early (and weighed over 7 pounds!)  He was in the NICU and contracted meningitis.  From the hospital! In the NICU!  Can you believe that?  Luckily, he is doing well now, and has been home for 2 weeks.  His actual due date is tomorrow (Oct. 6th).  I am so glad he is doing well...he looks great...and we all enjoyed snuggling up with him last night.  What a sweet little angel he is!
