spooky.

Even though October is a couple days away, I decided to pull out my Halloween decor over the weekend.  I love this month.  Halloween, cooler temps (hopefully) and conference football play. ..so fun!  I hope you have as much fun with your Halloween goodies as I do with mine!  TRICK OR TREAT!  :)

daddy doll.

My cousin, Jonathan, is a United States Marine.  He has served one tour in Iraq and is going back for his second tour in March. He has a sweet wife, Beth, and a 2 year old cutie named Taylor. Jonathan and Beth are also expecting their second child.  Next month, Jonathan will be heading to California before his next tour, which will take him away from his sweet baby girl.  When he was gone the first time, Taylor was too young to know any better but this time she will no doubt notice his absence.

So, my aunt had a Daddy Doll made to give to her.  I know there are so many of you with family and friends in the same situation and this product is too good not to share with you!  I think it turned out great and hope that it brings Taylor a bit of comfort while her daddy is away.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

time to confess!

I AM LEAVING THIS UP FOR A WHILE...
SCROLL DOWN FOR RECENT POSTS!
Who are all you fabulous visitors?  I love sharing my stories and creativity with you all but my sitemeter tell me there are lots and lots of you visiting everyday.  I am more than likely going to switching to TYPEPAD soon and have to decided whether or not to have a public or private blog there.  So...now is the time to let me know who you are!!  You just might land yourself in my new favorites or might even get a surprise makeover.  Even if you've never left a comment before--do so now! :)  I can't wait to meet all of you. [to those of you that always comment...thank you!! love all ya'll!]   UPDATE:  keep the comments coming!! I am having so much fun visiting all your new blogs.  YAY!

checking in.

I hope you all had a fabulous Monday!  Just thought I would write a quick post to say hello.  All is well here...the job is going well; I am getting the hang of things.  I really love my counterpart, Deedra.  She is fun and creative and organized...just like me.  YESSSSS!  We are in our last couple of days of college fairs (thank goodness!) and then I will be on my normal schedule (this is VERY important being that all the good shows start this week!)

No news on the shop front.  We are waiting for the right location for us.  My dad is actually looking at buying a building in the area that we are targeting (we would be one of his tenants). We'll see what happens.   I will keep you all posted.

Oh, quick note...I am seriously considering the whole typepad thing but will more than likely keep it public.  Has anyone heard anything about typepad that would make me not want to switch.  Speak now, people!! :)

My next post will be my 100th on this blog.  I will no doubt do something fabulous.  Let me give you a hint...if you have not confessed on the blog above then you better NOW.  You'll find out why in my 100th post!!

For now, I leave you with some pics from Saturday night, mainly because posts are better with pictures.  [some of them are kinda silly, fyi.  but...that's just how we roll!]  Have a fabulous Tuesday!

to switch or not to switch?!

I am thinking about switching to typepad from blogger.  Any thoughts?  If you are a typepad blogger then I would love to hear what you think about it...especially if you were on blogger before.  Thanks! :)

this and that.

Whew!!  First week of the new job is under my belt.  It's been SO busy because it's been all about college fairs this week.  It's been fun though, so I am a happy camper.  I am getting to all my fabulous k stuff this afternoon/evening so if you have not heard from me (emails) I will be getting to you ASAP!  I am also going to be tweaking the layout of my blog.  It feels kind of cramped to me (I need something a bit simpler), so please be patient with me while I make some changes.  Hope you all had a fabulous week--happy Friday! :)

9.17.2008

look what I picked up yesterday...

You know what this means...HALLOWEEN is around the corner.  YESSSSS!

spice.

I have  a new love and it's name is Spice.  Robbie took me by Spice in Waco, TX when we went to the Baylor game last weekend. {He knew it was SO me...and he was right!} We did not have enough time to even make a dent in all the design yumminess but one quick run through and I was hooked!  I was so inspired by a lot of their pieces...enough for me to give Spice it's own post.  I have decided that this place is worth the 2 hour drive all by itself, so I will be going back with my mom in tow for inspiration {and purchases!} sooner rather than later.  Enjoy all the design SPICE below!

today was...

so. much. fun.

I loved it.  I was home all day and then had a career fair this evening at a high school.  And it was a BLAST!  I loved talking with all the students, they are all so sweet.  You can tell they just want someone that is not a parent, or teacher, or counselor to ask their questions to.  It was so cool.  I have so many ideas on how to make this job super fabulous and fun and am blessed to have a boss that will let my creative juices flow!  (her husband is a semi-famous tattoo artist so she understands creativity.)

I have such a rough year.  Don't get me wrong...there have been SO many amazing blessings and wonderful times, but there have been so many little things that have been hard.  I feel so optimistic about the rest of the year and about going into my 30s.  Thank you, God, for all the blessings you bring to my life! :)

And thank you all for your comments in my previous post.  You are all another blessing that I may count!

9.14.2008

big announcement!!

YAY!!!  YESSS!!  WHOO HOO!  I am so happy!  I got the offer last week but am just now getting around to posting it for y'all.  I am going to be a college recruiter for a local college.  I actually worked for them in another role about 4 years ago and my old boss called and asked if I would be interested in coming back.  (For years, I had told them I would not come back unless it was in this role.)  Basically, I will be going around to local high schools to do presentations for students telling them about life after college, careers, the different types of schools, etc.  I am so excited because I have always been drawn to the thought of teaching so this is the next best thing.  And--I get to be creative in this role, which is so me!

And...I get to work from here:
My home!  YAY!  Another perk--I have an awesome schedule--I work school hours (7:30 am to 3:30 pm) and get summers off...PAID!  This will give me the time I need to continue to get things together for our shop, so this is truly a blessing!

I want to say thank you to my "blog family".  You have all been so supportive throughout the last month.  All your thoughts, prayers and well wishes have been greatly appreciated!

Well, that's all for now.  I am gonna go relax--I start my new job tomorrow.  YAY!

Have a fabulous week! :)

P.S.  If you are a high school teacher in the Dallas area...EMAIL ME!  I would love to come talk to your kids...and I bring FABULOUS SWAG to my teachers!! :)

sic 'em bears.

I went to my first Baylor game on Friday night.  Robbie went to Baylor and is probably one of the biggest Baylor sports fans.  The game was originally planned for Saturday but because of Hurricane Ike they moved it to Friday night.  We were a little bummed because we planned on walking around campus so he could show me around but we still had a great time.  I saw all the places her lives, Common Grounds, Lady & Joy and much more.  We had a yummy dinner {and fabulous  sangria swirl margaritas} at Ninfa's and quickly went into Spice...which I loved {he knew it was so fabulous k}.  Baylor won--so it was FUN!  On the way back, we stopped in West, TX and had yummy kolaches.  SO good.  We are planning on going to a few more games this season and I look forward to seeing more of Baylor.  GO BEARS!

9.11.2008

we will never forget.

I remember this day like it was yesterday.  I can't help but feel the same ache in my heart as I did on this days 7 years ago.  My love and prayers go out to those immediately effected by September 11th and my sincere gratitude go to those who have given their lives and are fighting for our amazing country.  Please check out a moving You Tube tribute here.  God Bless America! United We Stand!

chef robbie.

Last night, Robbie made us a DELISH dinner.  It was so amazingly good.  He even showed me a thing or two in the kitchen.  Who knew?
slicin' & dicin'
He made Herb Roasted Chicken and Mac & Cheese...YUM!
It was the perfect fall meal.  We watched Project Runway & Top Design with full bellies.  Thanks Chef Robbie...You ROCK!

fall at my door.

This post is for Jenny, who wanted me to post a picture of the fall wreath on my door.  So, here you go...I hope you like it.  I think it's fabulously fall! :)

take home chef.

Why can I not bump into this guy when I am at the supermarket??  Who is he, you ask?  He's Curtis Stone from TLC's Take Home Chef and I him.  He is an Aussie (hot accent) and ambushes people in grocery stores and goes home with them to make a fabulous gourmet meal. Maybe I should hang out in the produce isle more often...

a few things I am loving right now...

My Monday & Tuesday night shows...it could be because there is nothing else on...but for right now I LOVE them.  Especially Rachel Zoe.  And One Tree Hill.

The new 90210
Gossip Girl

The Rachel Zoe Project
One Tree Hill

My new PHILOSOPHY skin care regimine.  I have noticed that my skin is a changin'.  I am going to be 30 in less than 4 months and I can see that my skin is a little bit drier and more stressed.  So...I have been on the lookout for something new.  I have been using the products for a few days and I can already see a HUGE difference.  Yesssss! (Thanks to Robbie, who got me the giftcard to Sephora!) Here is what I have been using:

PURITY MADE SIMPLE
foaming cleanser
HOPE IN A JAR
Moisturizer

HELP ME
Nightly retinol treatment

Chick-fil-a's new chicken strips.  These are so yum.  Especially with the new chick-fil-a sauce.  It's de-lish.  I heart it, lots.  Too much...'cause I am sure they are not very good for you. Oh well.
The rain.  I love it.  Such a nice change and it keeps the temps down.  Ahhh, sweet relief!

Changing my blog design.  I love going through all the digi-sites to find new kits.  It's so fun and inspiring.  Hope y'all don't mind me changing it up so much!

There you have it...some of my favs right now.  So, tell me...what are YOU loving at the moment?
