This weekend has been a busy one!! Saturday morning I got up, met Robbie and his apartment and then headed down to Baylor for the Baylor/Texas A&M game. It was so much fun! Here's what we did:
When we got to Baylor we headed straight to Spice, of course. I love that place. I really need to take my mom there...she would love it. After Spice we headed to the Baylor campus and walked around. It was windy, but so pretty outside.
Robbie enjoying one of the swing on campus
After we walked around, we met up with Swaim at Vitek's for some yummy BBQ. After that, we headed to their friend Wade's HUGE tailgate. And then it was game time...
The Baylor Band
Swaim & I
Robbie & I
The game was great...Baylor won (41-21). YAY! I am NOT an Aggie fan, especially since my team is Texas Tech. (If you are a Red Raider fan then you know what I am talking about!) Needless to say...I am SO glad that Baylor beat A&M!
After the game, Robbie, Swaim & I went to change for dinner and then headed over to Ninfa's. It was so yummy. And so crowded. But, the Ninfaritas were worth the wait. After dinner we met up with a bunch of other people that Robbie & Swaim went to school with and headed to a new bar in Waco. We sat outside (under the heat lamp...it was cold, thankyouverymuch!) The rest of the group decided to go to Crickets but Robbie & I were so tired, so instead we went to Common Grounds. I LOVE THAT PLACE (think Central Perk from "Friends", but waaaaay better). It's a cute coffee shop by campus that is super eclectic and fun. They even turned their backyard into a venue for live performances. The Afters were playing that night (I love them!) but we missed the show because we did not get there until later in the evening. I was kinda bummed....
BUT!! I met the owner of Common Grounds and was super busy gushing about how fabulous her shop is when Josh Havens, the lead singer walked up to us. We got to meet him and talk for a few minutes. It was so cool and random. I had just told Robbie about that band the week before. (It's not often that I introduce a band to him...he is extremely music saavy). So, with my Hot White Chocolate & Robbie with his Milky Way, I sat in the very fabulous Common Grounds in little Waco, TX with a huge smile on my face. Gotta love random rockstar run-ins! (BTW--can you believe I did not think to take a picture with Josh?? GEESH!)
The view(s) from our comfy table at Common Grounds
This morning, we woke up, went to a very yummy breakfast, and then drove around Waco a bit more. We even went to the suspension bridge over the Brazos River. It was so nice.
A pretty fall morning by the river
We had such a good time. I think Waco is great and really want to go back during Christmas...I would love to see Waco covered in lights!!
Then today...after we got back from Waco, I met up with my best friend Sue, and her 2 girls, Olivia & Claire. My dad (who's hobby is photography) always does Sue's holiday pictures...so we went to Downtown McKinney for a photo shoot of Olivia and Claire. I think we got some good ones; I am sure my dad is editing them as I type this. I will post my favorites once he sends them.
While we were waiting for him I snapped a few on my camera to get the girls smiling & warmed up for the camera.

Hope you had the Cowboy Coffee at Common Grounds...my favorite! Can't go through Waco without getting one!
ReplyDeleteAWWWWW I MISS IT SO MUCH!! Im glad you posted all the pictures! If only all your trips to waco were a few months earlier when we were still there!! We could have actually met! We lived on Austin Avenue.. right down the street from Spice, Ninfa's, etc. (if you go during christmas.. drive down that street and into the neighborhood.. the lights are awesome)
ReplyDeleteI feel like I have soo many comments, stories, etc. to share from seeing all that. But I will spare you.
There are 2 other shops you need to go to.. They are very cute. Seronia's & Honey's. They are right down the street. Just like Spice - but different at the same time. And Seronia's has awesome food. There are more too - I just need to think of the names.
PHEW - Longest comment ever! But Glad you had fun & could see us beat a&m!
You took me down memory lane too!! I miss Waco and my Baylor days SO much! I'm so jealous that you got to see the Bears take the Ags down! We listened to the game on my laptop and loved EVERY second!! Sic 'em Bears!!!
